there's something so wonderful about the thought of james drinking more than he should and getting all giggly and soft and pliable with everyone around him. okay so im gonna admit i've only been really watching their recent content thru clips on my tl so i haven't watched that vlog in full BUT. i'm glad to hear that i'm right in some way. i think it's hard if you're a fan of someone to admit that they can be an asshole so i get why people are really scared or reluctant to admit or acknowledge that facet in their faves, but i think it's really fucking fun when it comes to rps. Adds a lot to their character and the resulting dynamics. and it's not like i'm saying james is a bad person, because i truly disagree with that -- but he IS an asshole sometimes, maybe more than sometimes, and i think it's a clear result of his upbringing through TA.

i think i've said this in a different ask, but i view his phone addiction as a way to avoid talking to them when he's in a bad mood (or when he really just Doesn't feel like talking genuinely). out of the five of them, i think he's the most introverted and gets the most exhausted easily -- it's why he likes rooming with juhoon so much -- but also, i do think that sometimes in those situations, he's reminded of how much Older he is compared to them. it's not that he feels left out, because i don't think he ever really cared about that with them lmfao, but i think he unconsciously Does feel that gap especially with his isolating tendencies and i think the kpop industry tends to downplay how awkward an age gap can feel for whoever's older. the idea of one man (james) fucking with the cortis dynamics really fucking gets to me. Talked about jamseongz with that same oomf i mentioned above, and we both agree that seonghyeon kinda likes james in a lowkey incestuous way where he really admires and respects james yet Also wants to take care of him like a younger sibling yet Also likes feeling special and coddled by his hyung YET ALSO wants to fuck him kinda. and he feels guilty about it whenever it happens because james clearly doesn't see him the same, but he can't help it if his thoughts go astray. i think part of understanding the marjames dynamic is acknowledging that james is Genuinely kind of an asshole sometimes, it's just that most coers don't want to admit it because they idolize him so much. Which i don't really understand. i think it's intriguing how he's especially mean to martin and how martin just takes it all the time, watching over him in his own silent way with the knowledge that deep down, james is just Very Scared. of what, i don't think he quite knows -- it's not like james himself is aware of it anyway. you have to really Dig for the reason as to why james treats martin differently and consider his past, his hyperavoidance of the other members in general. I think i talked about this in Another ask which i forgot to link and don't really feel like finding right now, but james and martin are kind of forced to see each other as equals due to their roles as mathyung and leader, which james can't really handle because he has a Quadrillion issues he won't resolve for a Long long time.
