hey im very new to marjames. i like their duo and when they are matched together in shoots, they both look good together. but i dont understand the way james treats him :/ james denies almost every affection martin tries to give him. also i get defensive vibes from him like when he said south pole and north pole like you couldn't just lie and say hats or something adjdbsjask and martin just laughs it off which i think, was very sweet. he even answered a specific tshirt he wanted from james… the interview where he said he will bring james to a stranded island, james's reaction was very snappy omgshdhshshs i figured if another member chose him his reaction would be different :/ ughhh i feel like a lot of angst and unrequited love.. but i also love jamzseong in the recent interview he chose seongyeong as someone he would call at 3 am if he's in trouble… i wonder how martin feels about that lol

i think part of understanding the marjames dynamic is acknowledging that james is Genuinely kind of an asshole sometimes, it's just that most coers don't want to admit it because they idolize him so much. Which i don't really understand. i think it's intriguing how he's especially mean to martin and how martin just takes it all the time, watching over him in his own silent way with the knowledge that deep down, james is just Very Scared. of what, i don't think he quite knows -- it's not like james himself is aware of it anyway. you have to really Dig for the reason as to why james treats martin differently and consider his past, his hyperavoidance of the other members in general. I think i talked about this in Another ask which i forgot to link and don't really feel like finding right now, but james and martin are kind of forced to see each other as equals due to their roles as mathyung and leader, which james can't really handle because he has a Quadrillion issues he won't resolve for a Long long time.
the appeal is the inherent toxicity, at least to me. as well as the genuine sweet moments in between, the tenderness that's clearly There, just buried. it's like crack to delusional Nuts like me who are obsessed with psychoanalysis, if that makes sense.
I do ponder scenarios of martin being jealous of seonghyeon actually. I need to think of it more, but Thank You for bringing that up. Hmmmm.....
