Thank you so much!! I'm enormously into vkei from a very pathetically uninformed perspective, adoring the visual language (And even wearing a bunch of horribly sized vkei stuff from Hammerhiroko when I was younger..) but having minimal knowledge about the actual names etc. involved. I was VERY honored to, in 2023, get to meet Baba-san, the fashion designer for Dir En Grey in Harajuku and get physically dragged around by her and put into jackets etc. haha. She was a real tour-de-force and I still kind of can't believe that happened
How is it going, particularly now that the game's demo is out so your designs are at view of anybody even people who don't know you? Is it going well, is it stressful, you check or avoid comments, need some space? For me it seems pretty scary for one to be exposed like that, so I hope everything's going well. Cheers!
Hi! Well, i'm actually pretty accustomed to my designs being visible to folks since that's been a standard feature of my life since I started posting art online in like... 2013. Even having work "published" in the context of a released title isn't new to me since Slave Zero X back in 2024 - it is a little more novel to have my work be the actual asset itself. Aside from cutscenes, Slave Zero X used sprites based on my modelsheets as opposed to my actual paintings, whereas Descent's spine-animated sprites are based directly on my work. It's a Liiittle more exposed than i'm used to being since there's no layer of abstraction via another artist's hand (Except of course Maddison's animation) but honestly, with the very warm reception the designs have received and the excitement around the way our monsters and characters look i'm hardly nervous. Maybe it sounds weird but i'm significantly more scared of falling short of my own expectations... when the design itself is the thing in game it feels way harder to avoid crippling perfectionist fits about everything I put in....
How do you take care of your hair?
I barely do, haha. I inherited my mother's hair which means that even a little moisture causes it to become extremely frizzy and brittle and dry out (go figure) so washing it means I have to deal with a head of straw for several days. I throw it in a bun most days to keep it outta my business and braid it before bed to stop it tangling when I toss and turn. As a result of the bun even though it goes down to my ass most ppl don't know how long it is and are often surprised if I have to adjust the bun in public lol
Would you ever want to do skateboard graphics? Would love to have a board with your art on it :3
I would love to do skateboard art - my wife skates and I like to hang out at the skatepark we go to in the Summer and do like odd paint marker tagging around the bowls. I can't so much as roll around on a board myself but I adore them as objects. I've always idly hoped someone would approach me for a limited run of boards or something lol but it's unlikely since I don't really interact with the space.
What the heck is going on in dandadan I’ve been so lost since the tiny basket adventure arc
I don't know what prompted this ask bc I don't recall speaking about reading Dandadan in public but uhhh it's the St Germain arc! He's progressively isolating and neutralizing the main cast through a variety of different means. I feel like the way everyone's fighting a range of independent battles (And in some cases, almost refreshingly, losing!) rather than all being focused in one place/with one goal is resulting in some confusion but the overall narrative premise is simple: the villain is trying to steal everyone's powers and has hired scores of sub-villains to do so. A principal component of the arc is "loss" imo and dealing with being "less than" your usual self (Okarun is stripped of his powers first and has no "right" to return to them unlike the others, Momo has lost her memories etc.).

There's a sequence at the climax of Keita Amemiya's Zeiram where the titular Zeiram attempts to reconstitute herself from a severely reduced state and the emergent organism is just exquisite. You could pick several different Amemiya creature features for this imo, between the spider-woman in Kamen Rider ZO and the "Kikaider" in Mechanical Violator.
