We ( atleast I ) always hear people say, 'I've hit my rock bottom.' But that makes me think - isn't rock bottom completely subjective? It's different for everyone. And when you really look at it, hitting rock bottom isn't about 'I can't lose anymore than this.' It's really just 'I won't lose more than this.' It's a choice, not a limit.
We can always go lower. So my Q is - what does it actually take for a person to decide, 'This is it. This is my floor. I will not dig a basement.' and mean it?
"Rock bottom" is absolutely subjective and objective, too. Hell we use the phrase to judge a stranger without ever knowing if it's "their truth".
I agree it is a limit on how much you tolerate rather than how much you can withstand. The ranges change drastically by person, crash out, implosion, deflection, even disconnection.. they're all checkpoints. It takes a specific needling to break through those check points and decide, "I won't do this anymore, I'll crawl if I have to."
Sometimes it's a personal signal.. or something external like knowing your what you're allowing is not only hurting yourself but those around you. Then the limit is created to protect those you've hurt.
Basically, there's no definite answer here. Emotional charge, maybe? Situation influence, sure.
Regarding your bombs -care to toss me a few cryptic, vague hints?
Just give me something else to obsess over besides the very "educational wildlife content" I'm currently mining for..reasons.
"Educational wildlife content"...? If this is regarding anything close to "Flesh Sleeve" then I'm seated... Then again, I'm literally subscribed to you, so I'm seated to everything you do.
As for something Cryptic... And Vague... 🤔
For someone like you who is either on the same level or much, much higher than me?
Let's see what I can do~
4 Main bombs... Which means there might be smaller explosions too.. but still..
1 is Wei's
1 is Chi's
1 is Shared...
And the other.. I won't mention.
I hope that drives you mad, my dear.
Why is the heart romanticised in the first place? I've read it so many times, but never understood it.
Even if we see it from the cannibalistic perspective -I've read in so many fictions that eating your lover's heart is the ultimate act of love, when logically, it should be the brain.
Heart just pumps blood, it doesn't think. Eating it is the equivalent of eating steak. It grants you no knowledge, no memories, and no essence. It's an empty, biological gesture.
Everything that makes a lover them -their private jokes, fears, memories etc. is encoded in the neurons and synapses of the brain. If a cannibal truly wants to "consume" and "become one" with the person they love, they have to eat the organ that actually contains that person.
And here is where the romance actually peaks -a knowledgeable cannibal knows that eating the brain might kill him. Prions are concentrated in nervous tissue. By choosing the brain, the cannibal isn't trying to survive the lover; he is choosing to join them in annihilation.
Eating the heart is selfish. It's about keeping the lover's "love" inside you while you continue living while eating the brain is selfless.
I found where it all begun -it was the Egyptians. When they mummified people, they scooped out the brain through the nose with a hook and threw it away. They thought the brain was useless packing material. But the heart? They left it in the body cuz they believed it was the seat of intelligence, memory, and the soul.
That cultural bias bled into Greek philosophy, and Aristotle doubled down, declaring the heart was the center of all emotions and thought.
Eating a heart is a symbolic act that says, "Your life force is now mine." It is a beautiful fairy tale. While eating a brain says, "Your specific, dangerous, messy consciousness is now inside my skull." Its almost a psychological horror.
Do you think we romanticize the heart simply cuz society is lazy and sentimental -choosing easy, safe symbols over difficult, dangerous truths? Or is there a deeper, more generous reason we cling to the heart that I'm missing?
I think we think similarly some times.
While I had never sat with this particular topic and picked it apart, I have toyed with close subjects.
While the heart and brain are interdependent and both equally important... The world views them on different levels.
The heart is romanticized more, in my opinion, simply because it houses the complete life-force and written code that makes us.. well, us.
Everyone believes the heart to be far more superior, but they don't understand that while the heart's job is important, it is regulated and told what to do by the brain.
And the brain is far more interesting, which to me is much more romantic.
If I wanted to pronounce my love in a way that said "I want to rewrite my biological rhythm and code until it syncopated with yours" then I'd focus on the heart..
But if I wanted to profess my devotion in a way that said, "There is no part of you that I could ever see myself without, I don't need you just by my side, I need you within me" then I'd focus on the brain.
But, ah... The truest form...
I'd think somewhat like Hobbs... And leave no part unappreciated. "I not only want to consume you, but I want to kneel at your feet as You consume my soul and devote myself to worshiping every morsel of your being."
I may have gotten carried away, but I hope I answered your question. While it may seem lazy to choose the heart, and can be at times, it's only because people can be terrified of admitting just how dangerously enamored they are.
And it's funny to me how, for life and love, the heart is the beginning, while the brain is the end.
I don't know why I'm even thinking about their breakup after such a long time, but here it is.
I feel like people often enter relationships with different approaches. Ofc, everyone has their own unique way of thinking, and there isn't always a clear distinction between mindsets, but I'm talking about these two specifically to make things simpler and clearer for me to understand -
a) you are comfortable with the person the way things are going on, so you come into a relationship with them. Stability, safety and the known.
b) You actively want to change yourself for your partner because you feel some of your traits aren't likable. You want to grow and fix those flaws for the sake of the relationship.
Changing for the better is a good kind of growth that everyone should go through. But it backfires sometimes.
It was proof of CC's growth that he tried to do the right thing for Wei. He was still jealous, but he chose to hide it and give Wei freedom instead of acting out. Ironically, that change was exactly what Wei didn't want. Because CC hid his possessiveness, Wei assumed CC didn't care anymore. Or CC did express his feelings, but Wei was so deeply buried under his own lies and insecurities that he simply chose not to see it.
Wei had his own secrets, but if CC had just been his usual, outwardly petty self, things would have turned out differently -
If CC was his usual self, Wei prolly would've confessed why he approached CC in the first place much before it actually happened. He would have willingly accepted any punishment CC gave him, instead of just letting his own heart break.
And when Wei saw that kiss between CC and Shuo, an old, outwardly possessive CC would have forced a loud, immediate confrontation. Instead, because CC kept it contained and Wei refused to see past his own insecurities, they both just kept the pain hidden in their own hearts.
There were many reasons for the breakup, but don't you think CC's decision to hide his toxic traits was one of the main trigger for it? Ofc, Wei was equally responsible but i've seen people mostly just blaming Wei for the breakup. Afterall, If you like the person - it includes your negative side too , isn't it? For you , that isn't anything bad - its just what makes you You?
Considering we are both writers and readers, I was a bit confused but I eventually caught on.
So, imo, as an empath, I correlate with both sides and felt them deeper than I really should have. Like, my mom and Uncle have both seen the show and they stand on opposing sides, while I stand in the middle, kinda just hovering.
My mom finds fault in CC, thinking if he hadn't of left or if he was honest regardless of what the mother wanted then it would have worked out. While my Uncle finds fault in Wei, thinking the lying started way before the "break up era" and it should have ended with Wei being honest and appreciative.
Again, imo... They were very much both in the wrong. They both dealt with the same fears and emotions, on different levels, and responded to them differently.
Chi was willing to gloss it all over if Wei said he loved him, but Wei needed everything to end to start anew.
Everything, from beginning to end, including perspective, reaction and response, was too complex to look at alone. The whole picture needed a reboot... So while I hurt for them both.. and would have went about it a different way... (possibly worse than Wei tfbh) I would end it like Wei, in hopes to start on equal grounds.
That doesn't remove the negative sides, it just evens the area and removes the dishonesty, to give them room to build towers strong enough to withstand possession and lurking bystanders.
Hey,
I wanted to talk to you about something I've been noticing lately in your revo. Tbh, I was a bit reluctant to say anything at first, cuz it’s your space and entirely your decision how you choose to handle things. Please don't take this as criticism or feel like I'm scolding you at all.
It genuinely breaks my heart to see you responding to those short, mean spirited hate comments with such thoughtful, deeply felt paragraphs. Your responses are always so articulate and full of depth, but the reality is that the people leaving them aren't looking for a meaningful dialogue. They just want to provoke a reaction and drain your energy.
I can tell you’ve been dealing with this kind of toxicity for years. If engaging with them gives you some form of peace, closure, or even amusement, then I completely support how you choose to handle it. But if any part of it ever feels exhausting or frustrating, please know that you don't owe them a single word.
Your words make such an incredible difference to me, and I just want to make sure you're protecting your energy. Sending you so much love and support as always!
I am a full believer in "don't feed a fire" so the messages I responded to, I chose to with reason.
I had much more messages that have been ignored, deleted, or screenshot'ed. They are much worse in their ignorance, nastiness, and threats.
But, occasionally I'll have a response that I feel hits harder than avoidance... or brings awareness to others dealing with the same thing that you don't have to attack back with insults.. or cower.. you stand ground with facts and honesty.
In my opinion, nothing can truly touch you if your truth is already out there. The comments might hurt for a little bit.. but that's natural.
I have a feeling this is one or two people.. and they've been attacking my friends as well, commenting on their stories or dipping into their alter/revo to harass them about me. I stated it on my twitter, which you don't have, but I can take any form of hate given to me, I just won't tolerate the hate meant for me to be aimed at my friends.
Thank you for checking in on me and your worry. I had hoped my responses to the anons proved I didn't need saving, but I'm glad I have people in my court.
