sometimes i write to a version of myself that almost made it
other times i think i’m writing to someone i haven’t met yet
either way, it feels like lighting a match in the dark
just in case someone’s walking by

i implode all the time
i just do it quietly
and plant something in the crater after

because even if i’ve seen the ending
i still don’t understand it
and writing feels like asking again but softer

the way he said it so soft like he was telling a secret. made me wanna go hug every tired musician

sometimes i write something and a bit later realize i was just missing a piano

both.

some days it’s the only way i know i exist, like if i write it down, it’s real.

other days it’s more like... leaving notes in the woods.
