YES! pinniped is the family that seals come from. it consists of phocidae ("true" earless seals, what you think of when you think of seals), otariidae (sea lions and the unaptly named fur seals), and obenidae (walruses)! "seals" is both a catch-all for all pinnipeds and also can specifically refer to the classic earless seals :3

i want to improve my physical health!! i'm chronically ill and while obviously i can't magically cure myself i want to work on exercising more and hopefully managing my symptoms better :D

idk if anyone's even awake now LOL but fun seal fact: the type of locomotion that seals do (where they bounce on their fat bellays to move) is called galumphing - even the wikipedia page uses it :3

elephant seals are Fucking Massive!!! like fully grown ones get up to 17-18 feet and upwards of 7,000 pounds!!!! by contrast baikal seals are usually around 3 ft 3 in and weigh around 100-120 pounds :) the duality of seals
