I believe in whatever I need to believe in at the moment I need to believe in it.
By being an atheist, you're doing exactly what you don't want to –giving importance to God's existence by denying it.
I prefer not to fight with people who believe. I just agree and move on. If someone says they saw an elephant flying, I'll double down: 'Yeah, I saw it too. It went over my head this morning.'
You said you don't see God's forgiveness. But it's ironic – you've constructed a forgiveness system that requires you to be godlike - forgive preemptively, forget willfully and hold no grudge – until your human limit kicks in. You're playing the role right up until the point you can't anymore.
And I'm not saying this to call you out – we ALL do this. Humans believe in whatever serves us at the moment ( inherently selfish)
In the follow up to that convo Hannibal asked: 'Would you have done it quickly, or would you have stopped to gloat?'
Will : Does God gloat? Hannibal: Often
This gave a new pov to forgiveness – it's a display of power. By forgiving someone, you establish that you were wronged, that you hold their fate in your hands, and that you have chosen to spare them. Gloating is the lingering enjoyment of that power.
So maybe divine forgiveness and human forgiveness aren't as different as we think. They're both about control. One just sounds prettier.
Divine acts are inherently dramatic and designed to make humans feel small.
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF !! And the gothic eye looks killer btw !!
In clarification, I do not deny the existence of something higher.. I just do not believe it the common belief of "God"
I said "borderline Atheist" because not many people know "Omnism" and they immediately tangle it with Atheism. However, I believe ALL faiths have value. In my works, I use the word "Gods" this is deliberate, not accidental.
I'm also the type to believe in research, science, and factual truth. Something unable to change with versions and perspective.
And if my way of forgiveness makes me appear "god-like" then I apologize, that has been my way of forgiveness my whole life. If I waited for those to ask.. I'd have no forgiveness and no room to breathe.. I'd die from giving others completely monopoly over my existence. But do I gloat about it? Do I tell these people they're forgiven? No. The ones who I forget.. they're the ones who expect it, they think they're owed forgiveness automatically.
