What would be your other favorite games you'd recommend to others?
Well, based on the top ten list I made a while back, aside from more popular ones like pokemon, FFV, and zelda, I'd recommend Azure Dreams, which is a roguelike similar to mystery dungeon but with a monster raising aspect to it. Speaking of monster raisers, Monster Rancher 2 is really good, it plays more like an actual simulation game compared to pokemon. Probably the most obscure thing I can recommend is Team Buddies, a PS1 game that's a mix of a squad based shooter and a strategy game, where little balloon guys shoot each other. It's been a long time since I last played it, but I remember it having a really fun multiplayer mode. And of course, any of the Way of the Samurai games. I've only played 1 and 3, but they're great little games that act sorta like CYOA stories where you're given a lot of decisions on how the story plays out.
What manner of dessert do you go for after a nice full dinner out? Does this change significantly if you know you arent paying/theres a coupon being redeemed?
If it's a nice full dinner, I often won't even get dessert because I probably filled up on the main meal and I don't want to risk a tummy ache from filling myself even more lol.
Though I guess it depends on what kind of mood I'm in, I do usually like to get vanilla cake. Or Vanilla ice cream. I guess I just like vanilla.
Though my favorite ice cream is chocolate chip cookie dough, but they usually don't have that kind of thing in restaurants...
If I'm not paying, I might feel a little guilty adding on extra...
Do you have a favorite game for each genre? E.g: favorite FPS, favorite RTS, favorite horror, etc.
To be honest, I never really thought about it. Some genres of games I just don't really have an opinion on and/or haven't really played much of. Plus I also go back and forth on which games I consider "favorites", anyway.
I guess some answers I can give are
JRPG: SaGa II
Action Platformer: Mega Man X2
Arcade Shooter: Pocky and Rocky
Rogue-Like: Azure Dreams
Horror: Lobotomy Corp / Yume Nikki
First Person Dungeon Crawler: Artificial Dream in Arcadia
... those last two do sort of feel like cop outs because I haven't played much of those respective genres, but I do like those games.
Do you have a favorite video game soundtrack?
This was a bit hard for me to answer, since there are so many games where I like one or two tracks, but don't really think about the whole set. And saying something like "Mega Man 2" or "SaGa 2" almost feels like a cop out answer because I also just like those games...
Though the game that immediately popped into mind was actually Azure Dreams. I like the energy behind it and how most of the tracks are renditions of the same one. (Sorry I don't know how to describe it, I'm not much a music person...)
how did you get interested in vtubing?
I was actually interested in streaming for a long while. I used to (and still do) watch vinesauce, Vinny and Joel, and those guys are both really great entertainers and make the whole thing look super fun to do. I liked how they had managed to build communities around them, and it made me wish I could do that too, because then it'd be like having a lot of friends!
But every video I saw about starting streaming all said the same thing: If you wanted to stream you HAD to have a face cam. You HAD to show people your face because they wanted to see your reaction, they wanted to see you get scared and cry when slendy man got you, etc etc. So, despite the fact I was already watching successful and entertaining streamers that didn't use a cam, I got dissuaded because I really didn't want to show my face. Plus, I also just never had a good gaming computer.
Then, you know, 2020 happened and streaming and Vtubing experienced a boom, and learning how accessible doing those things had become made me want to try again. And with Vtubing, I didn't have to worry about my shyness and showing my face! So I used some money to buy a decent computer and actually gave it a try. And now I'm still doing it!
If you were to host a tournament, what game would it be?
tbh I don't even know lol.
If it wouldn't be a logistical nightmare, I'd love to have people play that silly touhou doujin game I played (Meirin in fists of fire).
But a more practical answer, I'm not sure. I suppose whatever it is I should be familiar with? As in, know some of the meta so I can better run the tournament?
But then that would leave only, like, Monster Rancher and Pokemon lol.
The magical drop tournament was cool though...
... Could we play Pop'n Pop? That one has Sayo-chan in it...
Or maybe Puchi Carat? (at this point I'm just naming taito games)
I suppose the game itself doesn't matter as long as it's something fun to do with a lot of people!
... sorry maybe that's not an actual answer.
How did you make your hair on your model? I really love it!
It's been a while since I did it but most of the stuff on my model was done through just reworking the textures! The hair was mostly just a flat texture with some lighting gradients put on. The hair itself is actually one of the defaults in vroid, I just changed the shape a bit. I know usually when you think of slimes you think of more globby, rounder hair but when I used the texture on the more straight edge hair it reminded me of strips of candy and I really liked it lol
What is your favorite game ever made in RPG Maker?
This may be a bit of a conventional answer, but it's got to be Yume Nikki. That game mesmerized me the first time that I played it and after all this time, even after played many of the games that it inspired, I still find I love the game. In fact, when I made a top 10 list of games a while back, I put it at #5.
I usually see the game listed as a "horror" game but I honestly don't quite agree with that assessment. Yes, there are some unsettling aspects to the game, but I see it more like an amusement park attraction, where each area is a set piece you walk around and observe that allows you to see part of what lurks in one person's mind. To be honest, I actually find much of the game quite calming. My favorite area is the Witch's Island, named for the effect you find there.
