hello all,

thoughts on personifying parts of earth & our life? like the nature. the sun and the trees.

i personally find it very nice, and it sort of makes me very very happy. it brings a lot of hope for me. i sometimes think this is sort of religious, in a way, but it sort of isn't. it's like, another thing entirely. but closely related.

any thoughts, then, on religions telling of nature? do you believe in reincarnation as it relates to nature? maybe thats why... we'd personify this stuff?

It's kinda fun! I'm really empathetic and if I imagine that everything is alive then it's kinda great I don't feel alone. I sometimes think that rain is happening because sky feels sad. Reincarnation...I don't know much about this stuff so I can't say. I think that personified stuff is more about to explain things! People's fantasy is so interesting because we can imagine something and create what doesn't exist!

I just think it's an inherent thing. Why wouldn't everything in the Universe have some sort of "humanity" in them if we are essentially based on the same atoms? I mean sure, structure changes the definition of these things, but a bit of personifying helps us feel more connected to even the inanimate. I think everything is inherently connected, and we crave connection to, thus we try to find or imagine something that makes this Thing similar to us.

i like it a lot! i’m pagan so it’s basically part of my beliefs (mother earth & father moon etc)

i love personifying things, but i think people tend to get too up in arms about it (twitter debates on the sun and moons genders for example)
