hello all,
thoughts on personifying parts of earth & our life? like the nature. the sun and the trees.
i personally find it very nice, and it sort of makes me very very happy. it brings a lot of hope for me. i sometimes think this is sort of religious, in a way, but it sort of isn't. it's like, another thing entirely. but closely related.
any thoughts, then, on religions telling of nature? do you believe in reincarnation as it relates to nature? maybe thats why... we'd personify this stuff?
My main story, Green Star, actually personifies the Sun, the Moon, Earth, the Sky, the Supermassive Black Hole in the center of our universe and other such things. Thatās not exactly the question but I think that the idea of these things being alive, too, is equally terrifying and beautiful. Iām agnostic myself and I think Iād be very sad if the earth was alive. Especially because of the state of it right now. My mom always enjoyed stories with Mother Nature and the moon if it was alive and stuff and my deadname/irl name (which is made up by her, therefore she decided the meaning) literally means āchild of the moon.ā A very important component in my story is the idea of complex consciousness because these gods are very simple. Or theyāre complex in a way theyāre unaware of. I donāt think I believe or disbelieve in reincarnation. I think if reincarnation were to exist I would probably think itās less of a magic thing and more of a nature thing. A way of the world, just as anything else. The difference I think there would be between gods and humans is very large but equally small, too, like two sides of the same coin. Itās a prominent topic in my story. I keep mentioning Green Star because it feels lile this question was meant for it, because all these thoughts entwine into the story itself, too. While I think it would be horrifying and also unreal, I think that the world is already alive in one way (nature & plants) so itās not that big of a stretch for people to personify real earth into something like a lovesick girl, or a beautiful mother, either. I think itās an idea that makes me feel like Iām at home. Thatās the only way I can explain it.
i love personifying things, but i think people tend to get too up in arms about it (twitter debates on the sun and moons genders for example)
