mousie i'm sorry it took me so long to answer this. i think i remember seeing an excellent response from bunny and i thought i couldn't do better than that. then the adhd got me and i forgot. i don't remember bunny's response exactly anymore, so if there is some crossover please forgive me.

i'd say i can be a bit inconsistent with style depending on my factors. a big part of it is definitely that i'm finding my feet with writing again after long time not doing it. i'd say famine and the feast was the first time i felt like i'd found some of my voice again, and then again with cracked and your touch embroiders me. genre does effect your voice/stylistic choices sometimes i think, or simply some genres fit more naturally with some styles.

i think one of the best pieces of advice for improving your writing in anyway is to read. reading others can teach you sm about writing, and also importantly your own tastes. my advice would be to read and think more consciously/deeply about what is you do and don't like or what does/doesn't work for you. revisit your favourites, what is it about them that grips you? how does it grip you? learning to read more deeply helps will reveal a lot about style and narrative voice to you. it's also useful to apply the same thinking/evaluating to other media.

then, think deeply about yourself/your own writing. what about it do you like or fills you with pride? what parts of your writing do you dislike, and why? understanding yourself helps you direct your attention and energy with writing. i've personally found it helps you build your own instincts and intuition too.

i'm a big believer in finding ways to write/work that work for you. i tried to be a 'planner' for years, and tried emulate so many different methods of story planning. however, none of them worked for and would ultimately lead me to being too frustrated to even write. i've found a way to very loosely plan that helps me guide my writing, without overwhelming me. however you plan, or don't, when writing having a strong sense of your characters and setting is really important. i like to think about the story I want to tell and who the characters are. sometimes i'll write this down as dot points, sometimes it just lives in my head. having thought through these points helps guide me and keep me on track while writing .

i pretty much always make moodboards for my fics these days. i never used to, but since i got back into writing last year i've found it really helpful. it's nice to have them as like a 'cover' for the fic on a promo post. but i also make them and insert them at the top of the doc while i'm writing. i find them a good way to remind of the vibe/mood of the fic. and sometimes looking for images for it and making them directly inspires certain scenes/settings in the fic. when i was making my moobboard for in the mist i found this image of statues of hands clustered together and it inspired 'the Agnoy' location in the fic. or for your touch embroiders me i found some pictures that were essentially ballet dancer thirst traps, and it inspired the section of the fic where mnh starts sending jsvng thirst traps everyday.

playlists i don't do so much. i do listen to music or watch shows while i write, but i think i find moodboards more helpful because it helps prompt visual ideas for me which i struggle with because of aphantasia. i did make a playlist for your touch embroiders me which i looped on repeat for months, and ended up giving me the title of the fic. other than that there may be a song i listen to a lot when i write a fic, but i wouldn't say its common.

the graveyard of my docs is filled with stuff like this i think. or just, stuff i've been working on for a really long time 😭 probably my biggest one is the first ever skz fic i wrote, mnsvng obviously. it's the one i call my 'memory gain fic'- mnh gets hit on the head and gets fake memories of him and jsvng being together. i started writing it in december 2023. its actually fully written (59k!!) it just really needs editing, and because it was so long ago now when i wrote it i'd like to rewrite parts of it. but i do love the premise and some of the scenes in it. my goal was orginally to get it out this year finally, but i'm not sure if i'll make that now. msf took up so much of my time earlier in the year, and now slickfest is kicking my arse. hopefully one day...

how could you do this to me?? yes please the waxingracha fic we deserve. hot it couple hynlx turning up to up and comming indie rockstar jsvng's show because they've seen the buzz and they think he's too pretty not to take back and ruin. trembling as flx opens his legs for him, he needs hynjn to whisper in his ear to talk him through prepping flx. flx praising him and playing with him at the same time. by the time hynjn's pushing into him he's already a mess (sorry i had to make jsvng a pathetic top). they tease him for how pathetic he is and eventually they roll so hynjn is on the bottom fucking into him and flx is on top riding him. jsvng is an absolute mess, starry eyed and whimpering. ahhh yeah, so much potential here. thank you for this tasty treat that is now going to haunt me for sooo long.

i have a half started dnd/fantasy fic haunting my wips, i will add a ss for what i assigned back then. i remember thinking about it a lot. without looking at that again rn here is what i would pick now.

chn - paladin
i like paladin for chn because i think rigid comitment to ideals is so easy to bend, and thats a thing i like in fic with chn. when his protectiveness becomes posessive. or the conflict between his drive to protect and his greed. tasty stuff.

maybe oath of the crown? for that guardian/sentiel/protector vibe. or, hear me out, oathbreaker. a chn who has turned his back on his orders/the kingdom he served because he had to choose between that and the kids. a chn that lives more in the morally grey space would be fun i think.

mnh - warlock or ranger
this is tough for me. i like ranger as that represents to me a highly capable person who is able to survive/thrive in circumstances others would struggle in. that seems very mnh to me, a quite confidence and an ability to lead the others through real and metaphorical wildernesses. plus, we know he's good with animals. but i like warlock too as a charisma class, because i think mnh can be charming but also unsettling. very warlock coded. a warlock with some sort of cat patron would be fun for him i think. either way he has to have a fae influence i think. thats just so mnh to me, otherworldly beautiful and a little chaotic/tricksy.

for ranger maybe fey wanderer. the idea of mnh with a sword misty stepping behind an enemy makes me drool. also a nice dex based class for our dancer feels right. for warlock maybe an archfey patron or hexblade would be good. i can see mnh being more melee then hanging back.

chngbn - paladin
i think previously i want storm herald barbarian, but i think i actually much prefer chngbn in a class that would allow him to be a tactician. i feel like paladin is right for that, plus i find chngbn so charming it makes so much sense that he'd be a charisma based class imo.

i think oath of the ancients? i like the idea of an oath that isn't about laws, but about doing what he feels is right. thats very chngbn/jutdae to me. plus oath of the ancient paladins are also supposed to protect and enjoy beauty and goodness everywhere, which means appreciating art and music. very chngbn. totally different vibe to chn's paladin, no tention between outside orders and personal thoughts/ideals - he walks his own path that he believes to be right.

hynjn - sorcerer
idk why, this was pure instinct. a charisma based class for hynjn makes sense. i also see sorcerers as dramatic, which fits imo.

maybe divine soul? high level sorcerer hynjn with angelic wings? sick af.

jsvng - bard
jsvng gets my favourite class because i just can't separate him from music. charasmatic and able to reliably turn their hand at everything, whilst also boosting their party with their presence/talent? very hn jsvng.

maybe college of lore because they're the most adhd coded bards? doco lover and bug facts guy in the college that is about collecting facts and stories and sharing them. checks out. otherwise college of eloquence as the subclass that is all about persuading/getting what they want. you see it right?

flx - druid
specifically a circle of stars druid. one because its my fave druid subclass and two because star associations with flx just make sense. i also like that a circle of stars druid focuses less on animals ect. i feel like flx is kind and caring which i associate with druid. plus they can be surprising.

an out of pocket pick i think a swashbuckler rogue would make SO much sense for flx too. charming and dexterous, fighting that looks like a performance ect. charming people and then hitting them with something unexpected.

sevngmn - wizard
an int based class for sevngmn. he is so particular and exacting about his voice that translates well to a really scholarly class to me. he seems like a back line fighter to me too, hitting hard but staying in the back.

a divination wizard seems right for sevngmn, he pays such close attention to others that it would make sense for him to be divining things. otherwise i think school of conjuration, and he conjures ultra puppyM. as a totally wild aside i think a arcane trickster rogue or an artificer.

jngn - cleric
how could i pick anything other than cleric for innie? they can also be surprisingly tanky, and i think that would be a good fit for jngn's resilience. also a wisdom based class for our maknae on top. the party composition at this point really needs a wisdom based class...

i like twilight clerics, i think they get some cool features. so im tempted to say twilight cleric but, idk i think tempest domain would fit innie.
