you're right about that being the "era but reborn", but also not quite. i used to have genuinely horrible psychotic episodes where i believed wholeheartedly i was certain characters, which caused me to do things that i regret til this day. however, i've recovered from that. temporarily. i, in turn, became crazy towards my boyfriends [f/os] which i'm trying to work on, but i sometimes feel like they exist out there. as an example, i used to be really fucking crazy and i mean crazy over zenos yae galvus, my current biggest beloved for whom i actually harbor romantic feelings for, to the point where i'd cry at school over his death. he is fictional, so it shouldn't have affected me that way. the way this correlates to the entire thing is: people similar to me tend to latch onto characters, whether it be when their sense of identity is disturbed or when they feel like they need something to rely on because everything else has failed them. it truly is interesting how the human brain works sometimes. <- btw i had to get reality checked by a friend to actually snap out of it because i'd be like "oh i miss zenos" all the time 24/7. it [the episode where i believe he's real] is still there sometimes, as stupid as that sounds
either way, i said 'also not quite' because sometimes these people just have a sheep mentality, following what everyone is doing. it's not exactly the same as 'giving' oneself psychosis - it's something of an issue where people don't have their own brain. it's similar to people trendhopping and then calling people cringe when they get out of it but others stay
i feel like i do... idk personally outside of maybe ivan of alien stage ive never had to worry too hard about being burned at the stake for sharing a “da” with someone (thank fuck 😭) but yeah id say its pretty close to some sphere of yumejoshis nowadays because i still remember being on retrospring and getting a anon ask telling me to block someone because they had the same yume/was a fan of the same character as them 😓 not trying to shade that person at all but that was what made me vanish from ask sites for a while because i was like this shit gets serious 😭
you cant even have husbandos these days without some 15 year old who discovered the term yumejoshi yesterday sending you death threats for liking the same fictional character as you. But generally people are just so unpleasant about it and make up rumours just because you have the same favorite character (from experience)
i knew abt this shit and its still very big on ponytown in all honesty i just think i am certain characters but i wont genuinely go out of my way to kill someone for also liking the same character or tell them to kts over ir 😓😓😓 i am just aba and ada mesmer ❤️❤️🩹 but rn when i see the yume shit i do see the similarities i hope we all can get along be whimsy and joy guys ❤️❤️❤️
