people who are So obsessed about t/b dynamics to the point of blocking or wtv, come off as homophobic.. to me atleast. i would like to know what you think about people who are way too serious and strict about the t/b preferences. all about each and their own but sometimes when people get aggressive about it and are ready to jump eo based on this i think "wow these people really are ready to ignore the duo's dynamic just bc of their sex position" or sometimes it feels like all sugoi chemistry boils down to just sex to them. ⬅️ guy who is overly sentimental about their rps

i mean when it comes to this convo i'm just like. in the offline queer community there definitely do exist people with very strict queer preferences. and we're all in this weird online rpf space where we're playing around with projections of people. ofc there will be people who are weird about it but i'd hesitate with a label like homophobia because there's too much nuance. just as an explanatory thing i do think a lot of it stems from larger differences in queer culture, which is why in asian/mainland fandom it's so common to adhere to those strict t/b dynamics; like, in china there are literally a million different labels for the kind of Lesbian Top you can be for instance whereas in the west the terms are a lot more fluid. but there's also the effect of BL/fujo culture; that's who I think you're talking about; and yeah BL has really shaped the way people talk about gay relationships for better or worse. you can really tell when someone's sole experience with the queer community is BL/yaoi by the way they talk about dynamics lmaooo. Anyway to top this ramble off: reheating what all of my moots say every 5-6 business months -- we are essentially here to have fun with what appeals to us, so curate your timeline to see what you want to see, who gives a fuck what appeals to you, just don't be a nuisance about it (i.e. yucking other people's yums). you can be serious and strict about your preferences without being annoying and attention-seeking and combative, and in the same vein you can hate people who are strict about their preferences and avoid them too. we must use the tools available to us of curating our timelines because we're all in this space together #Hopeful
