in terms of what i'd like to see more on the mainstream/commercial side of things, more directors need to get comfortable with pulling the camera back a bit and letting the shot linger. i remember watching Lav Diaz's MAGELLAN earlier this year and absolutely loving all the gorgeous tableaus... would be nice to see more of that, cinema right now feels so in love with claustrophobic close-ups and medium shots
