What do you think of/feel about the final sequence in Fox Bunny Funny?
It captures a kind of "queer sadness" or bittersweetness, that is very rare. That it is triumphant and good, that he is able to achieve his desire, but that the society he escapes into is forever marked by and defined against the structures of the brutal society that its members escaped from, in his achievement there is a sort of implicit acknowledgement of the impossibility of, the innocent desire of the thing that initially sets one apart, that one is violently disabused of.
