hi emmy, i’m a longtime casual follower!!! i dont mean to offend with this question, but do you no longer id as lesbian? i’ve just been getting a lot of your “boyfriend” posts on the tl — and i’m really not sure if it’s a man or a he/him butch ! not that its super significant, i’m only curious bcs i love seeing other lesbians with such popular and moving work :(

oh no this is not offensive at all!!! i've been going through a lot with my sexuality actually hahaha. i identified as a lesbian for much of my life because well i was only ever attracted to women i never experienced attraction to men at all. so you can probably see why i came to that conclusion. but i've also never just been attracted to random people, i REALLY require Feelings and connection to experience any sort of physical attraction whatsoever. i emotionally connect with women very easily, so i have found myself attracted to women. men... not so much. but as i was thinking about like what fuels me to be romantically interested in or attracted to someone i realized that it really could be anyone, it just had historically always been women. that was like earlier this year. i basically decided it wasn't Impossible for me to be attracted to men, just improbable.

so i no longer identify as a lesbian, or any label really. i don't identify with bisexual or demisexual or pansexual or anything, not because they're technically inaccurate, just because they don’t Feel right and it ultimately does not matter to me personally. i’m comfortable with ‘queer.’ it was definitely a struggle and a crisis for a second because I was so solid in my identity as a lesbian for so long, but alas. I am always learning new things about myself and have accepted that for me personally the label doesn’t make any real difference on my sense of self or my life.

so that has been my journey hahahaha you didn’t ask for an essay but i love to share. thank you for asking!
