Hiii anon! I guess it depends on my mood and on the story I wish to tell. When I’m in a soft fluffy mood, I’d go for a nice fun spanking as part of a sexual act and then there’s no apprehension or dread. I’m not too big on character taunting and bratting and misbehaving on purpose just to provoke their partner to spank them; if they want a spanking, they should ask nicely. Now, if they’re taunting and bratting on purpose in order to provoke a reaction or test boundaries but they don’t expect the reaction to be a spanking, that’s a different story, and I quite enjoy when they’re caught by surprise like, they expected something but not that, and now they have to deal with the indignity of having their bottom bared for their partner’s wrath. And it’s fun to explore their reactions of surprise and dismay that turn to confusion and even slight humiliation upon realising they actually like this, and ultimately full shameless acceptance and eagerness.

And when I’m in a bit darker mood, I love non-sexual spanking that’s clearly a punishment doled out by an authority figure. Then I love the whole non-con aspect of it, the fear, the tears, the distress, the shame, and anguish and misery. Actually those non-sexual setups are my most favourite spanking scenes to read tbh

And another one that I like is when the lines are blurred and the partner is in fact this authority figure in a relationship with a huge power imbalance, like omegaverse is great for that, or war prize aus, or some kind of historical setting, and the spanking is a punishment and means to assert dominance and keep one’s partner in check. It’s understood that disciplining your partner is fully within your right, and they find the spanking scary and shameful and utterly distressing, but perhaps they also can be faced with confusing feelings where this kind of submission leads them to experience arousal as well, and then they go through this whole journey of self-discovery.
