ahh this is a great question! and tysm for the love <3 honestly, I don't know that any fics I read are necessarily similar, but I enjoy reading fics that are descriptive, emotion and/or plot-driven, and poignant in some way. I don't think I'd ever read a greek mythology fic, nor a classical musician one, but I think what would connect my writing preferences to my reading preferences lies more in style than content. For example, I'd had the fic idea for IWCISMITD for a long time, but sat on it until a fic I read inspired me -- MFA by hyunnies! It wasn't the plot though. In that fic, both Minho and Jisung are writers -- and the author includes snippets of their writings in the story. Those are what struck me. The style was captivating and had this sort of muted magical realism to certain parts with visceral descriptions and metaphors. And I was so seriously enchanted by the skill and style -- the poignancy of what Jisung in MFA would write, the way he'd describe desire, anxiety, and other emotions that he or his characters felt... that was awesome. So although fics like MFA are totally different plot-wise (with the exception of a professor/student thing going on), the style is what drew me in and I've always liked employing those same elements to achieve similar goals with my own works.

As for types of fics I love reading but don't think I'd ever write, gosh there are so many! With where I'm at in my writing journey, I'm very wordy and descriptive (almost obsessively so) -- and that's fine, though it won't efficiently achieve every goal for every style of story out there. Areas I wish I could write, but don't think I quite have the capability to (for now), include comedy/crack fics, fluff fics (like no angst LOL), tropes like enemies to lovers (tried in a fuoco but the YEARNING WAS TOO STRONG) and established relationship (I don't even read those -- I want to SO badly, but I'm too selfish and want to see the entire build of a pairing's relationship because I crave the tension and crescendo), and maybe even smut. Writing smut for the first time felt like pulling teeth and I'd love to be more confident and comfortable writing it because I LOVE reading it, but I embarrass myself somehow...
