hi hi, what's your favorite trope to write?
hi hi!! hmmm idk that it's actually a trope but i LOVE inserting the language of flowers in fics whenever i can -- although it's nothing exact and meanings can changes based on the source you use, i think that's what's so exciting about it. someone has one understanding and they put their feelings in the gift which, in turn, makes that understanding right. you know what i mean? like, if i believe that sunflowers mean brightness, and i gift them to you, that's what i'm wishing, that's the meaning that they have.
so while there are somethings that we may perceive as universal, most things are not. i like that someone will look into things carefully and consider what they want to express and automatically give value to something as simple as a flower.
but generally, i like writing complex relationships. i'm not sure i do that super well all the time because i also want gentleness to be everywhere haha it's hard to balance it. tbh i don't think about tropes when i write, i'm thinking more about the characters and their motivations. like ofc tropes will be there!!! but i don't write around them, i write and if they fit, they do!
but if i were to choose a trope, my DREAM is to write a proper rivals to lovers. to explore the negative feelings and how they would transition into positive ones!! i LOVE rivals to lovers and even more enemies to lovers!! but tbh i find it hard to find stories that fit well with the tropes that i genuinely like. it often feels a little one sided, which is what i personally write haha i like the idea of having one sided beef bc i've had them, AND i've been at the receiving end of it - in college, a LOT of people would tell me that they were super intimidated by me before getting to know me. so a few of my coworkers had beef with me before we actually got to know each other sdkjfsdfhs i can a lot, especially when i'm comfortable.
besides. i'm a retired athlete. one sided beefs are common af skdjfhsjdfs
anyway. i don't write with tropes in mind but if i were to do that, it would be rivals to lovers!
