great question! There are some ships i really love writing canon compliant fics and threads for, there's one ship in particular that i often write canon compliant for which is chanlix bc i find their canon dynamic really interesting to explore. i was telling saph, it's going to be awkward if this is saph, "their angst intrigues me and the arc their relationship has taken intrigues me with felix going from hero worship to oh wait this is a real flawed man and their relationship having to adjust" but in general, i think i like writing canon compliant with chan and i also really like canon compliant binsung. Otherwise i don't really have a preference fic wise. as far as the mini smaus, it's fun to write more ooc things with AUs but canon compliant is fun to write about current events or things that just happened so i like both equally for different reasons.
