Haiii!! I love your writing so much and it’s actually what inspired me to finally write my own minsung au, I’m planning on posting to Ao3 in the next week or two. Do you have any advice for writing your first fic? Is there anything I should know about getting attention on ao3? I don’t know much about it and I feel like a fetus😅
Hi! thank you so much that's so sweet. Congrats on your first fic! As far as getting attention on ao3, summary and tags are really important. people can't like your fic if they don't find it or click on it. Make sure to tag things that are specific and important to your fic. For example, if han jisung has a small penis in your fic, there's a whole ass official tag for that that will help people discover your fic. As far as summaries go, I'm really bad at them but I grab a snippet from my fic that's really exciting or intriguing or hot and use that for the summary as a sort of teaser to get people interested and then I put a short little one sentence summary of the fic or premise. If this description is confusing check out my ao3, it's what I do for almost all my fics. Also don't underestimate the power of twitter for promo. There are accounts that you can tag in your promo post who will retweet your post and help it get reach. Also be shameless about self promo. If you follow me you'll notice that I post about my own fics all the time. If you see a viral tweet or a minsung moment that reminds you of your fic, quote tweet it with a link to your fic and an explanation of why you were reminded of you fic. People will be interested and it's a great way of getting traffic to your fic once some time passes and it's getting buried a little by other fics getting posted. Also before your fic is posted, if you want you can pick out an intriguing bit and post it as a WIP for WIPWED or just randomly and that might build some interest in your fic before you post it. If you decide to do that, dm me so I can retweet the post. If you need someone to read your fic over or want advice on specific tags to use, please dm me. I'd be very happy to read it over. If you don't need that, please dm me when you post and send me your promo post so I can read the fic and retweet it.
Genuine question but why do you always tag 🐹🐰 (which reads as top jsng/bottom mnh) when you always write top mnh/bottom jsng (which would be 🐰🐹)?
What is your favourite colour and how do you decide if you're into writing a ship or not? Is it dynamics that interest you? Are you interested more in certain members and therefore ships because you find them fascinating or is it just vibe based?
Orange is my favorite color and when it comes to skz, it's almost entirely about what plots come to me and what ships fit the plots. Sometimes a plot will come to me with a specific ship in mind but sometimes i'll come up with an idea and i'll run through different ships and different members until I find ones that fit both the characters in the ideas and the dynamic in the idea. I find all the members equally interesting for different reasons (I'm not just saying that, it's actually true, it's why i can't pick a bias). Some ships have dynamics that I find more interesting irl in terms of their irl/canon dynamics. For example: binchan, binsung, chanlix, and hyunin. But my favorite ship to write is seungyang just bc I really like the writing I've done with them. In a fictional context, I think all the ships can be complex and fascinating which is why I make a distinction between my irl interest and my fictional interest.
fun fact - the first minsung tweet that got me interested in skz fics was your first wip for the best friends brother mating run fic!! every time you post a snippet i jump for joy. i’m so so excited for when it finally does complete and get posted, the anticipation has me vibrating in my bones! i hope you’re doing well and taking care of yourself <3
Thank you, that's so sweet and such an honor. I appreciate your patience while waiting for the fic and the well wishes. It's taking a while bc so many people are excited for it and I don't want to rush it and come out with something I'm not proud of or doesn't live up to the snippets I've been posting.
hai maiiiiil tiiiiiime (trying to confuse you here, i hope it's effective), what's a trope or dynamic you love writing and what's one you('ve) struggle(d) most writing?
hmmmmmm I would say a trope I find really interesting to dig my teeth into is the evil one I used to be known for but I'll give a non evil answer and say exes to lovers. I'd say one that's been hard to write is enemies to friends to enemies to lovers which is what my long clexa fic is. I've learned from the comments that even when you think the mean acts between the leads are balanced, readers will view the POV character as in the right and the victim and it's hard to have real mean actions that both characters have to grow from while not completely alienating readers from investing in and rooting for the relationship.
we're just going to act like i hid my name... before sending the question... right..?
Your newest chansung fic changed my life im so serious. It’s so freaking good I love it so badly. Thank you for writing it! Oh and also really love your sm-AUs, esp the chansung ones but I enjoy all of them so much !! Just know even if they don’t bang I always check on your account to read them all cause they’re so freaking good. They bang for me 🫶
Hi hii! Have you ever written a minsung fanfic with lactation? I’m really into it atm but surprisingly there aren’t a lot of fics of it, even the a/b/o fics don’t have it as much as I thought they would’ve 👀. Just asking out of curiosity, if you have any reccs I’d love to hear about those too 🤗
What is your stance on tardigrades? Do you think they are amazing, borderline concerning in their ability to survive, both, or a secret fourth option, since I don't want to limit you in your response
I mean I love tardigrades! One thing I love about them is how accessible they are, they're a super unique and cool micro organism that can be found by just scraping some moss off a tree, sprinkling some water on it, and looking at it under a microscope. i think it's great when science can be that accessible. also they're super cute! A fun fact is that instead of their name being a combination of two latin words: tardi (slow) and gradus (step), there actually exists a word in classical latin, tardigradus meaning slow stepping after which they are named. I think they're amazing as extremophiles but i also take comfort in the fact that they survive in suspended animation in their dehydrated tun state rather than truly being alive in these extreme conditions. when you send a tardigrade to space, you aren't sending it alive, you're sending it in suspended animation and I find that comforting.
