I thought Felix meant it’s how you stay in control (of those emotions) that matters since he knows chan to be a great guy, and that chan is better at regulating them these days
As far as I understood this portion of the 2KR (which, to be fair, I can’t say with total certainty since I don’t know Korean,,,+ the subtitles for these episodes have often been corrected online because they apparently miss some nuances in what the members are saying. So there are a few points that are kind of hard to follow,,, and a few particularly interesting moments with Chanlix, I think, because of their Konglish interjections lol) in this segment, Felix says “When emotions come in, it can completely change anyone--So like, it’s how you stay in control--you’ve mastered that so naturally” Chan responds, “since I feel so comfortable with the members, my emotions just come out like that” and Felix replies “yeah, but that’s the most manliest and respectful thing I can give you credit for, because you work on it, you think deeply, and you act on it”
While I think the editing emphasizes how Felix views Chan as having “mastered” his emotions--and there’s definitely an element of praise for how Chan has worked on that over the years--I understood the “manly and respectful” part as referring less to Chan’s control and more to two things: 1. the fact that he reflects on his emotions, and 2. that he acts on them thoughtfully. that interpretation also fits with what Felix says right after, when he mentions that he himself isn’t as outwardly emotional anymore but has made it a practice to reflect and express what he’s feeling. Then he asks Chan, “Do you think that’s mature?” As I've discussed in previous answers, i found this to be pretty complex remark in and of itself, but even aside from that, because Felix doesn’t frame this as an Alternative to what Chan does, i see their approaches as pretty aligned. So rather than saying that staying in control is what “matters most” i think Felix is recognizing how Chan handles his emotions in general. That said, this whole conversation is pretty chopped up, so it wouldn’t surprise me if some of the discrepancies in people’s interpretations come from the editing becoming its own thing to parse out.
