It's a lyric from the song St. Matthew by The Monkees. Which is a song I like quite a bit from a band I like quite a bit. I think the gender of it all and the description of noble but exhausting efforts and struggles by a woman doing her very best speaks to me. And it's just a jaunty little tune.
