Do you have a favourite museum? If so, what about it makes it your personal fave?

yes!! my favourite in the whole world is the natural history museum in london. i am obsessed with the physical building, it's my personal favourite building in the world for its brick work and carvings and colours, it's just really spectacular. the main hall is stunning and so impactful. i have early memories of being taken there as a child at the height of my dinosaur obsession and i've loved it ever since. when i first returned as an adult, i was honestly disappointed with the main dinosaur wing because i think it's very poorly designed (small, cramped so you can't really appreciate the fossils, one-way path etc) BUT it does have some very good specimens, like the first t. rex fossil ever found (part of the lower jawbone). the rest of the museum makes up for it though, because they also have the archaeopteryx holotype (that i cried at) and a bunch of mary anning's fossils. it's just such a special place to me.

HOWEVER, i do think my favourite dinosaur exhibit is the museum of natural history in new york. complete opposite of london: its big and bright and every fossil is easy to see and appreciate. i've been to a lot of natural history museums in the usa now that i live here (and try to visit one in every new city i go to), and i really enjoyed the national museum of nature and science in tokyo!
