hey fran. i'm a long time follower of your beautiful musings and i also love your advice. i have this huge crush on a girl from the fandom i'm in. i feel silly but i think i may actually have feelings for her. has this ever happened to you? what do you think i should do without making it look creepy? we talk a bit but not much and i can hardly keep my feelings from exploding when i see her on my timeline...
Crushes are a little strange but wonderful. For example, I get crushes on writers all the time. I fall a little bit in love with anyone whose writing I really love. Their brain came up with those words, right? What a lovely thing it must be.
It’s not the same thing because I don’t correspond with them but the feeling behind it is similar. There’s something there that your heart picks up on and thinks, “Yes, I’m into this.”
I think crushes harmless and fun. It’s good to have a crush! It keeps your mind busy and your heart pumping.
Maybe you should make an effort to talk to her more. Not in a forceful way; just build up on the rapport you already have. Ask about her day, share things about yourself. Go a little beyond the usual fandom chat. See if she’s responsive to it. There’s no harm in wanting to get to know people better if they are willing.
And who knows? Maybe your crush will be reciprocated one day ;)
