I was thinking about the importance of butterflies. Sometimes people talk about butterflies like they’re untrustworthy since they’re ephemeral and transient… but that’s part of why we appreciate them.
Is it not possible for the one who I give butterflies to (and vice versa) to stay with me for those fluttery moments? Since they trust they’ll get more and want more of them?
Because in the end what u need is someone who wants to stay vs feels nothing but miserable obligation. U do Ofc need more than just butterflies since life is unfortunately not that simple. But let’s not underestimate the power and reason behind why we describe such feelings as butteflies. And I think your account is great at appreciating the butterflies; so thank you for the flutters.
Butterflies are lovely. Butterflies are the beginning of the story, the first clue you are given by your heart and your body that there is something there. That it could turn into something more. And sure, there are other things, bigger things, but I don’t think they are more important than simply liking someone for who they are. That is, or should be, the basis for everything that comes after. Not just loving someone—liking them a great deal.
