Real question now: how are you dealing with ‘loving the idea of being together with someone but can’t actually manage to be with them.’? I mean, what if the other feel played or they prefer commitment which I, specifically, unable to give. I just don’t want to hurt this certain person. I definitely don’t wanna be a jerk.

Then maybe you just love the concept of being with them and not the person specifically. Careful, mixing them both is always disastrous. But also, communication is always the key, never rely on your assumptions, hopefully you all are mature enough to handle heavy conversations.
