random shugo anon—i figured you wouldn’t know but it came to mind when i remembered that anime existed and i don’t have anybody else to say it to so i left it there… hm… i agree again. most of the compelling bits for me come predominantly from minwook’s pathos and being a terribly funny victim of circumstance in that regard. as you say: he was supposed to be a pristine omega maknae bottom but time after time has to be the alpha mathyung emotional support top… how this plays into how he handles everybody else (save mjx and ksm ig? there are layers there) is what titillates me. i see tables turning in the power dynamic currently; the younger ones push him more and he just takes a little more in turn… it’s kind of the perfect setup for the most inappropriate gangbang ever but i’ll stop there 끝

“it’s kind of the perfect setup for the most inappropriate gangbang ever” I’M SCREAMING!!!!! wow. i’m going to think on this extensively because that’s kind of where this was always headed wasn’t it. he simply cannot have his cake and eat it too.

the power dynamics have always been destined to be turned on their heads. you get it completely. as the maknae line mature and come into their own more as individuals it’s only going to showcase just how arrested minwook’s development is in comparison. i was telling oomf a couple days ago that i think a big reason why minwook acts the way he does is because he’s been 19 in his head this entire time. so much of his teenage years and early 20’s were spent fighting for a dream in a group that was functionally destined to fail from the beginning. i think in a lot of ways he lives vicariously through them, and that’s part of why he presents so strangely in his behavior.

his relationships with sungmin and mjx are something i could talk about for a WHILE, especially with how the others joke all the time about how awkward things are between minwook and sungmin. jingxiang is his own can of worms entirely, i think sungmin is far more entrenched in the relationships that minwook has with the others (by proxy of kenshin) in a way that xiang simply is not.

I think the most interesting relationship he has currently is actually whatever he has going on with yeojun (read: how yeojun feels about him in comparison to how minwook does). yeojun is the most appropriate person for minwook to invest his time and emotional energy in, we know yeojun has expressed interest in minwook from the beginning, and yet minwook consistently keeps him at an arms length despite how much yeojun has clearly been trying to bridge the gap between them. and yeojun wants him in exactly the way minwook should be wanted (omega bottom, wants to treat him like a dongsaenng more than a hyung) and yet minwook resists that so emphatically. i could probably draw parallels to his previous relationship with baeil gun in that regard but i’ll hold off for now.

everything about his character is at such odds with how he should have been positioned in life. to go from 4th gen nugu dozen #13 to one of the front men in one of the most popular 5th gen project groups has got to be a mindfuck. especially because i personally think that he is not on positive terms with the baeil members. in both groups he’s the mathyung but it’s obviously come with such drastically different expectations for how he should carry himself. and in that i think it’s been a lot of the struggle with him accepting and realizing he’s in a very similar, yet remarkably different stage of life then the people he’s now surrounded by.

he’s really got such a terrible sense of perspective on his own life. i don’t know if minwook is even aware of his obvious he is about so many of these things. his avoidance of his problems outright and refusal to acknowledge the things that make him anxious or uncomfortable will come back to bite him, probably sooner rather than later. godspeed jeon minwook. sorry you’re just now learning you’ve got a thing for younger guys.
