it’s not a hot take at all but i do think people want to ignore it. and like you said, that’s okay! everyone has the ships they enjoy and everyone has the ships they don’t! and even then, a ship does not have to be actively up each other’s asses for it to be valid (or fun). like i’ll be so deadass rn, there’s a ship that’s wildly popular in the fandom that i do not love at all, but others do- and that ship doesn’t have a fuckload of interactions, either! not that i’ve seen anyways but hey, i might not be paying attention enough- and the thing is that i don’t want to, so i probably never will. i think that’s a lot of what’s going on with ujb rn. people are acting like it’s a genuine NUKE to other ships, which is just not the damn case y’all. like this is fiction at the end of the day. i get that people are going to come out and say negative shit no matter what- it’s the internet, people thrive on anonymity and when they have that, they will use it to any advantage. that includes that person who said that jeongyeon just… wasn’t as “obsessed” with jihyo. you’ve listed so much here that, imo, proves otherwise. but the thing abt it is that these things are all kinda… subtle? jeongyeon does things like that. she’s not someone who loves when the attention is on her, so to me, she’s just not someone who thrives on grand displays of affection. plus… idk man, i think her and jihyo are well past the point of them needing to be all up in each others faces about stuff. jeongyeon doesn’t have to outright tell jihyo she loves her bc she shows it in her actions, and jihyo knows that. i answered an ask very similar to this on tumblr a few hours ago but the point still stands- they’ve been in each others lives longer than they haven’t been, longer than we’ve known them. for them to be this close and clingy is beautiful, lmfao. also i think that people see jihyo as more obsessed bc she’s… well, she is a bit of an attention whore LMFAO. like that’s fully a joke but jihyo definitely is much more okay with being in the spotlight compared to jeongyeon- and she absolutely knows how to work it when she has it. but soooo much of her showing jeongyeon off is her way of expressing her love. i’m a firm believer that jihyo wants the whole world to see jeongyeon the same way she does, which is why she’s so open. like damn she rlly took jeongyeon’s phone and edited her instagram posts just bc she wanted everyone to see the prettiest pictures of jeongyeon first. that’s just how she is and how she’s always been! so yes, they are equal in their love for one another, it just shows so differently bc… well, they’re different people. jihyo’s logic where jeongyeon’s emotion; jihyo’s loud where jeongyeon’s quiet. idk i rlly could talk all day about this. i guess my final point that it is a bit sad that ujb has to be justified to this point, and even then people will still do and say whatever they want bc they’ll never listen. and i never expected ujb to blow up like this, btw. on one hand i’m glad more people are going here but on another… yeah, it’s kinda exhausting to see people saying this shit. either way i think i will always love them, and a big part of why i love them is their love for each other. i hope they continue to always choose each other lmao.
