ahhh lkbundles my love!! im so sorry i havent been able to answer all your beautiful comments but i'll take a moment here to let you know i read them all!! they mean so much to me and i wish i'd gotten more of a chance in the passing weeks to reply.
honestly, how lyn found out was never really big in my mind surprisingly. but whispers travel far in small towns and i wouldn't be surprised if someone saw them kissing down by the court, or driving together callously during the day. it was one of those things i kind of left up in the air because i knew it was also possible she didn't /have/ a logical source, that it was a delusion or "jealous fit" like the last time she pulled a gun on him. so i wanted to kind of leave it open.
i think jsng takes mnho's advice. so far it's saved his life, and he's admittedly always been a little bit of a "yes, ma'am" type of guy. he was going to argue against it but there's this look mimo gives him that always wins him the argument regardless (cause how do you say no to those eyes?)

here's some outtakes, deleted scenes and fun facts
- the draft names for fh included "god's country", "televangelism" and "stomping ground", all ethel cain tracks i felt related well in their titles to the fic
- monica's character was originally supposed to be an abusive adopted mother in the way of she's aware and chooses to ignore it, but i quickly realised she wouldn't play much of a role in the story and wanted to make her more of a foe as opposed to a hunter like her father.
- the character going into minho's windows was originally ryujin from itzy, who was going to run off with yeji (hyunjin's sister) but i scrapped the idea after i realised she really wasn't relevant to much else of the plot and cut it down to hyunjin. yeji is still hyunjin's sister who is mentioned in "nettles", and ryujin is the girl minho hit it off with!
- the original relationship timeline was going to only be two months before the climax of the fic
- wally's character wasn't planned and was freehanded when i got to the chapter where he's first mentioned, all the mentions of "walman" being penned in later. it was one of those moments where a huge piece of the puzzle to jisung and lyn's relationship struggles that felt so satisfying to finally get to write down the reason.
- chan's wife is seonghwa from ateez (in case anyone missed it!)
- chan, changbin and felix were originally not going to be in the fic at all and the boyfriend hyunjin made was going to be irrelevant, but i needed someone to knock some sense into jisung and realised changbin was the perfect person.
- the overhanging plot of children being killed was Going to be more relevant as well, and I had an idea for jisung to be in town investigating the murders, but with the plot i decided on i decided to leave the murders as a looming thing to only be brought up every few chapters by people like angel who are more aware of it (as a child who would constantly fear that vs minho who kind of has so much going on that he can't afford to think about that constantly)
- angel's character was going to not be explored and was going to remain background, but i added her into the chapters around 20 chapters into writing. minho was originally supposed to find out the affair through conversations with jisung, and micah didn't find out until much later.
- the wall scene was one of the first scenes to pop to mind when i was brainstorming for this fic, as well as the scene of them driving out of town.
- churchyard undoing was entirely based off of "crying during sex" by ethel cain
- the final chapter is based off of "golden age" by ethel cain
- the next chapter i'm going to publish is the only chapter i genuinely cried writing and rereading

so initially the idea for the fic title came from an unreleased file of ethel cain's, titled "doe hunting". that was the title of the document i think until i finished the first chapter which is usually when things fall into place for me. it was supposed to be a placeholder title and initially i wasn't planning to use the deer/fawn metaphor at all.
the decision to make minho the fawn of the story came when i included this looming story of children and teens going missing near the start of the fic, and explaining the odd aspect of it being a hunting rifle, not a smaller gun or something more practical. it was some other small things like how minho gravitated to monica like a fawn to a doe, how much he resembles his mother, etc.
once that precedent was set, the theme of minho being a fawn beneath the boot of st*ph*n became very natural for me to write. especially with how common hunting is/was in that area (shady grove), it felt like the perfect theme to kind of hang over the fic.

yes yes! when i post this ask ill post the height comparison chart that i made for all the characters in fh! so mh due to unfortunate circumstances (negligence, abuse, etc) is only 5ft 4 inches, or around 163-4cm. jsng is around 5 ft 9, or 176cm, which i simply credited to a different upbringing than canon jsng (less dietary requirements enforced on his life) and despite leaving home as he's mentioned and running away, he wasn't alone for long and was well fed and well loved when he was taken in! (not that i need excuses for height difference lol, but i did happen to have some for this fic!!) ty for asking this i LOVE talking about height in my fics
