there wasn’t anything specific, if i recall! i’ve just always loved exploring dystopian worlds and societies of strict hierarchy and oppression, where the natural character of the human being still strives to bloom and be free like a flower growing through the cracks in concrete. there is something irresistibly hopeful about two people falling in love in an environment where the odds are against them and everything is only cold, hard, and depressing. so, i really loved writing the story as well 🫶
