Hi ev i hope you doing great and enjoying arirang!!!! I know youve said countless of times how much hou love it. Would love to hear your opinion more extensively, if you have any points or opinions that you would like to share. Anyways there's a lot of armys who are trying to decide which Arirang song fits this BTS album and i thought it would be fun. So here's my opinion and I'd love to read yours:
Body to body - BE (i feel like it could have been a good song to release after the pandemic. With the whole "we were separated but now we're finally back together" theme. I think of body to body as a "Stay" sister but ot7 version)
Hooligan - Either PROOF or DARK & WILD or ORUL82? (In my opinion this song has both the hip hop/swag/flow/aggressiveness combined with a bit of softness and vulnerability that DARK & WILD and ORUL82? hve. And aldso production wise)
Aliens - i see MOTS7? Cant explain it
FYA - PROOF
2.0 - PROOF
No.29 - MOTS7 (Between louder than bombs and ON. Or in LY Answer (between im fine and idol)
Swim - Wings:YNWA (in my mind Swim, spring day and yet to come go together. The three of them make me feel sorrow, sadness, but at the same time they fill my heart with hope and happiness. It's a mixed feeling that i cant name. It reminds me of this quote from a Taylor Swift song called Happiness, that goes: "There'll be happiness after you, but there was happiness because of you. Both of these things can be true there is happiness. ")
Marry go round - BE. but i feel like it could also be in LYHer. Although i think it fits BE better.
Normal - PROOF
Like animals - MOTS7 (like animals and louder than bombs go SIDE BY SIDE). Maybe it also fits dark & wild?
They don't know about us -LY Her
One more night - A mix between Wings/YNWA and Persona
Please - Persona (no explanation needed)
Into the sun - I think this song would be perfect as a love letter to army at the end of BE. CHeff kiss. If not there i feel like they would decide to put it as a hidden track in the CD exclusively, judt like our poor Sea) 🥲🥲🥲
i am sorry that it took me a while to get to this! i am very much in a situation where i need to take a lot from other people, such as the happiness and joy that i took from this message, but i don’t have a lot of energy to give back. it is very frustrating. but more importantly:
i love this analysis and i agree with so many of these! like please is so persona, no question about it! normal could easily be on proof. they don’t know bout us and her, yes. one more night is also very golden and indigo, i could imagine a variation of it on both records. into the sun could be on both layover and rpwp. hooligan and alien scream hobi’s jack in the box era to me. just to name a few! basing most of these thoughts on vibes; my dad is a professional conductor and flutist, but as much as he tried to make me love playing the clarinet, i never got into music theory.
but overall i think arirang is like coming back home to a house that you’ve already loved and lived in for a long time but that’s been freshly renovated. it is familiar yet new and exciting at the same time. i love that the boys don’t have to prove anything to anyone anymore, which shows in their daring and confidence to try new sounds and experiment with their music. i can’t pick any favorites on the album, i love it as it is.
i think the only song that i find myself struggling to listen to all the way through is merry go round, though this has nothing to do with the song and everything to do with me. it is absolutely gorgeous, and i am obsessed with how the song itself trudges on like an endless carousel that you can’t leave. masterful songwriting. but because i have had to crawl my way out of very dark places in the last few years (my own severe burn out was followed by my partner and my dad’s cancer diagnoses, and i am going through another health struggle myself atm), the song is peculiarly triggering, if that makes sense. i pulls me back to a place where i do not want to return. but i think, if i find myself in that darkness again, it will give me a lot of comfort.
