i feel like kyuhyun from super junior may actually be an example of doing better after switching companies. i'm no expert but from what i've seen it seems like he got more opportunities for solo activities like variety or musicals (although he was always highly demanded in the scene). but i honestly can't say anything about his music 'cause he's known for doing ballads and they all sound the same anyway so it's hard to fuck that up.
