HOW WAS GOVBALL BB

GOVBALL WAS AMAZING!!! i haven’t talked about my experience anywhere super publicly so i’ll talk about it here!
i got GA tickets with my sister and our cousin, and we all traveled to nyc for it. i’d never been to a music festival before so i didn’t really know what to expect!
we got to the park around 3pm on saturday. once we located each other and made it through security, there was a lot of chilling and locating food/bevs. we didn’t feel super pressed to get great spots near the front—i’ve never been in a packed standing pit at a concert before, and had a pretty high amount of anxiety about people getting packed in too tight, so we weren’t going for any crazy good views or anything.
i got to meet up with some of my lovely stay friends and got so many freebies from strangers. one of my favorite parts was how many baby stays there were, kids with their parents who brought their shy kids over and introduced them to us bc they could see we were stays!!!
we came specifically to see skz but caught most of wet leg’s set, which was amazing. soon after we found a spot on the field that we were pretty happy with, they made the announcement about moving up skz’s start time by two hours. it was hot as fuck and you could tell from the humidity that rain was threatening, so we were all very excited about the change and shifted into locking in our spot on the field. a couple people needed medical right in my area, seemed like general heat exhaustion/lightheadedness, and our crowd did a great job working together to get medical’s attention and make room for them to get out.
skz themselves were phenomenal, obviously. this was my third time seeing them in person, and their command over the stage and the crowd only gets more impressive every time. they all looked RIDICULOUSLY good, and their energy was insane. we ended up closer than we’d anticipated, with great views of the screens, and of the members when they came out on the extended stage. the setlist was perfect, no one screamed louder than my group when they started the side effects intro 😭 the members paused the show at one point due to people in the crowd needing medical attention, and made sure they got the help they needed safely and quickly.
it was over too soon of course, but not a moment too soon actually, bc the minute they left the stage, the skies opened—torrential rain, winds, hail, dust flying everywhere, literal tree branches breaking off and falling as everyone tried to leave the park. despite the chaotic weather, everyone i saw was moving in a very safe and orderly fashion, and we eventually made it to the train without the storm whisking us away.
long story short, it was amazing. i would absolutely go to another festival for them, their energy was unmatched and there’s nothing like being surrounded by that many stays :)))))
