i really like the look of your blog page background and i'm super curious about how it was made, is it NES tiles with a space gradient applied? are the tiles just random, or are they based on something? (like "i plugged this file in and treated its bytes as tile indexes" or something)

i made an old toy called the "crashterizer". it takes the rough average rgb of every 8x8 block in an image and then mapped it to smb1 chr graphics. the background is a google image search for a galaxy, run through that, and then turned into a mask back over the original galaxy image.
