You get access to any size development team and budget (assume they get paid fairly to work healthy hours, no assets are stolen or genAI'ed, etc. It's ethical). What video game do you direct for them to make?
Even with effectively unlimited resources, all of the games I want to make could easily be done with a small team at most. I've been rotating a Quest 64-like in my mind for over a decade, so I think I would go for that.
The game would take all of my favorite parts of Quest 64, expand them and wrap them around a fully fleshed out story.
- Enemy turns would be more complex with more attacks designed around dodging and the ability to block some damage.
- Casting spells would show their attack area and let you snap targeting to enemies.
- Player turns would have a certain number of action points that can be used for moving, casting or attacking physically, with some actions using fewer points than others.
- Certain spells would be usable outside of battle as a means of traversal, like summoning a rock to create a step up to an otherwise unreachable ledge.
- Has a lower poly style with low-res textures.
- Large maps with a lot to explore, but not really "open world".
You've been summoned into a post Madoka Magica magical girl world. What sets your bad end route flag, and what's your final scene?
I dunno why but Megaman (or X) has set his sights on you, if he defeats you what power does he now wield, and what does the armor look like?
What does little furry creature Qwarq think about leotards? Would they prefer something different?
Which planet do you think would be most fun to visit, pretending that you don't have to worry about the ways that they would be fatal to stand on
I'm gonna say one of Saturn's innermost moons, like Enceladus. It'd be really cool to see a huge, beautiful planet like Saturn filling most of the sky. Most of the moons orbit in the same plane as the rings, so you likely wouldn't get a great view of them, but it'd still be quite a sight.
Alternatively, if I could pick a probe, I'd go for Juno. It gets suuuper close to Jupiter and it'd be trippy to see in person. https://eyes.nasa.gov/apps/solar-system/#/sc_juno?rate=1&time=2026-02-25T09:40:02.662+00:00
What would you say is the coolest discovery you have made during one of your internet archaeology streams?
Less a question more of a statement but qwarq in a leotard is too op thank you
Have you felt more Megaman confidence grow? Do you no longer fear the dastardly Dr. Wily or do you expect to start having a tough time later on?
Starting with the easier Mega Men has had the advantage of giving me a good bit of confidence while also keeping the fear of Wily in me, because I know it's only going to get tougher. I'll probably hit a wall at some point, but when that happens I'll just have to use Item 3 to get over it.
What is your favorite video game Randomizer?
I don't play randomizers very often, so I don't have strong opinions on favorites, but my most played ones are Final Fantasy 5, Link's Awakening and Final Fantasy 1. I'll give an honorable mention to the Quest 64 randomizer as well. Many people I know really like the Link to the Past randomizer, but I've never tried it - I would like to sometime!
