hello all,
i'm going to assume that you reading this feel as though you are the "#1 fan" of something.
what gives you the right? and would you say you're open to criticism, correction, debate, or discussion, when it comes to this thing?
I have the right to be the n1 fan bc i said so āļøāļø
i almost never really consider myself the ā#1 fanā of most things i like, since i donāt want to put myself in a hierarchy with other fans based on how extreme we are. i think we all enjoy it in our own way and have a special personal connection to it, and determining whoās the number one is gonna be subjective anyway.
i do take the #1 fan title sometimes in a way to simply express i am super passionate about something, and also when it's something that's not popular. it may threaten me when not worded politely, but i am very open to criticisms and corrections about things i love! learning more about those is usually the biggest part of my fangirling, so why wouldnāt i like getting enlightened about errors with how i perceive something if it helps me understand what i love better? yeah and as long as the discussions and debates are respectful, i enjoy them
I Think that Personally, itās a Title many people give themselves whenever they are Super Loving Freak Fans of a Series or Game or Whatever. I Think people have the Right to Call themselves the number one fan of something if they know just about everything about it.
That being said, no Iām not up to Debate But I think Criticism is Fine, everyone can use some Criticism sometimes
I like calling myself the #1 fan of Mizuki and Mizuena tbh but itās moreso just my way of saying āIām extremely insane about this character and this ship and itās all you will ever hear me talk about.ā I honestly could care less if others think theyāre bigger fans because at the end of the day ā#1 fanā is lowk a pretty subjective title to give yourself šš My qualifications though are umm owning mizuena figures, having my irl who knows nothing about vocaloid or anime or rhythm games draw me mizuena fanart as well as her knowing pretty much all there is to know about Mizuki and mizuena despite never touching pjsk or the pjsk stories, getting my other irl to become pretty invested in Mizuki and mizuena (to the point where he unironically sees pink and brown and thinks of mizuena šš), starting a mizuena yapfest that I lowk need to finish that once I finish will probably be the Longest thing I Ever write, making everything I can about mizuena, relating Mizuki and mizuena to everything ever, tiering Mizuki and mizuena-centric events, etc etc. I donāt care about criticism, correction, debate, or discussions because I love talking to people about them and I think everyone should experience the joys of Akiyama Mizuki, Shinonome Ena, and Mizuena āŗļøš·
I understand why people feel this way. There are lots of reasons! Neurodivergence, so much effort put into one thing, having great recollection, etc etc. I feel a bit like that too, sometimes, that I know best,
umm but then I remember that's made up and utter nonsense, because while I may be able to know best (from my perspective), it is just thatāfrom my perspective, and someone else can respectively be the #1 fan or whatever in their own right. And that's great I think.
I also understand why, for whatever reason, you wouldn't wanna hear what others have to say about your thing. Many such reasons. But I personally believe it to be good, to listen, and consider, because there are so so so many um...views out there, that you won't realize you're missing, until you hear them first hand. And you know what! If they're completely "wrong" then it's so fucking funny! And you can feel a bit righteous or whatever. Fun and games for real
I'm the number one fan of all my original works and characters, that's a debate I'll never lose. But in general I don't really care to claim the title of "no.1 fan" of anything because the importance of my love and investment in something is not defined by its magnanimity in comparison to others. If someone actually loves one of my interests more than me, I see that as a good thing for them. As long as something fulfills me and makes me happy I don't feel any need to get into what I consider a more minor detail
genuinely who else gaf about team x to this extreme of a level. ive met other people who Like team x and have headcanons about them but i donāt think the average bllk fan thinks about them like 98% more than they do any other character. its also near-impossible to find publicly available fanart of them in english or japanese spaces but ive drawn well over 40 fanarts of chihiro ezaki (#5) ALONE. my count is not nearly as high for the other members but still
