Hi, if a prompt we did last year wasn't picked but we want to try luck that somebody picks it this year, can we prompt it again in this new form or old prompts are somewhere else?
Hey! I'm so excited for this Slickfest! 🩷 I have a question. I'd like to suggest an idea for a fanfic, but can I put the shipp I'd like used directly in the description, or do I have to literally write "Person A or Person B" so the writer can choose the ship they want? Is it optional, or what's the rule in this case? c:
hihi!! we're so excited too!!
the prompting form will have the option to submit an idea for a specific ship of your choosing as well as the option to prompt for "anyone/anyone" pairings! these are two separate things, however, so if you're interested in suggesting an idea for a specific pairing, make sure you select "specific ship" when filling in the form, you will then be redirected to a list of all potential pairings for you to pick from and prompt for ^^
happy prompting!
Hiii, I have been reading since the first edition, but for this edition I would like to participate even though my language is not English. My question is if it can be written and published in another language other than English?
Thank you very much for your great work!
hiii hi!! we're so happy to hear you've been here for such a long time!!
unfortunately, as until now there hadn't been any interest shown in publishing works in a language that isn't english, we didn't consider this possibility when making the prompting forms (that will go live today), so all non-english fics will have to be self-prompted or posted during off season for this round! now that we've been made aware of this, however, it is certainly something that the mods will consider implementing in future seasons of slickfest!!
as for round three, you, and other authors, are absolutely more than welcome to self-prompt a fic in a language other than english or join us during off season!! ^^
we hope this answers your question and that we'll get to see your work in this round!
hii !
first timer here so forgive me if this is a little dumb
could you just give a like a summary of how all this works
Thnx !
hi!! welcome, we're so glad to have you here ^^
all essential information will be revealed as the fest moves along, but to give you a little rundown of what to expect: on the 18th 00:00 KST slickfest will open prompting, which means that a form will be posted for slickfesters to submit their prompts/ideas; this will close on april 25th 00:00 KST (slickfest always operates according to KST, so we'd recommend checking how that translates to your timezone!) and, after that, mods will make a masterlist with all collected prompts that will become available for viewing and perusing on the 28th! if you find a prompt (or several!) that interest you, claims open on may 1st at (you've guessed it) 00:00 KST: a claiming form will be posted and in it you will be asked for the prompt codes (that you will find in the masterlist) of your choosing and to state your first, second, third, etc.. (up to five) choices, this is because claims operate on a first-come, first-serve basis, so in the event that a prompt of your choosing is already taken, you will hopefully have other choices to fall back on!
you will then receive an email to let you know which one of your choices you've received — authors may only write one prompt at a time, so we recommend that you really consider your prompt priority when submitting your claim! the masterlist will then be updated to mark the prompts that have been assigned and those that are still available and it will remain open to viewing all throughout the writing period! if, at any point, you realize that your choice isn't working for you anymore, you may contact us to drop your prompt and switch to another available one (or drop out of the fest altogether) ^^ in the event that available prompts are not what you're interested in, slickfest also offers the option to self-prompt! if you'd like to know more about that, you can check out our more thorough answer here: self-prompting.
the submission deadline will be on november 1st 00:00 KST, after which (at a TBD date) reveals will begin, all works will be posted in small batches and will all be initially anonymous! but more information about that will be given once closer to the writing deadline ^^
we hope this answers your question, if you'd like to know more please do not hesitate to send us another q or contact us on any of our platforms!
I'm excited for this! Thanks for your hard work! If I submit a prompt and then decide I want to fill that prompt myself, can I do that? (This would be separate from self-prompting.)
Do the off season prompts that were used get re added to the list of prompts for this year?
hello!! if a prompt was used during off season, will it still be added to the new masterlist for this year?
this is a stupid question you can ignore but what does the colour theme of this fest represent ? the pink with icy blue... i Like it..
do i submit my last year's unclaimed prompts again? or are they already included in this year's prompt list
hai mods could u explain a little what self prompting is, bc i have a vague idea of what it is but i just wanna make sure im getting it right😭😭
hiii!! yes, of course! self-prompting is an option for people who want to submit their own idea to write instead of something that was submitted through regular prompt submission. when you self-prompt, you use your own idea as a starting point for your story! it has to, of course, still be relevant to this fest and follow the fest's rules. you can choose self-prompting for whatever reason! maybe there isn't a prompt that strikes your fancy, maybe you have an idea you've wanted to work on for quite some time... any reason is valid!
you will be able to self-prompt through a dedicated form that will open 24 hours after the claiming form drops, so if you're interested in self-promptiing, wait for that! from there on out, your work won't be any different from the others, the only thing that will be different is the fact that your prompt won't appear in the prompt masterlist and will instead be revealed towards the end of the fest!
