if we ask for it, can we know who guessed a work as ours in the fic guessing game? 🙃🩷
the stats we send for author guessing are the number of correct guesses, the number of incorrect guesses, and the other authors that were guessed for your fic. but we do not say names for who sent the guesses in!
if you’ve already been revealed and you’d like your stats, please send us a dm or email ^^ thanks so much
hello my dearest slickfest mods! has there been a decision made regarding the date of the author reveals? all in one go? split? if you already announced this, i'm sorry, i might be blind haha...
hi! was the fic from today deleted on purpose and will it be reposted?
hello! the fic dirty laundry, revealed today, was removed due to use of ai when editing a portion of the fic. we have addressed it with the author, and they have proven to us that other than proofreading, it was entirely human-written (by way of their doc history). after careful consideration by the mods, we decided to remove it from the collection, since we do not tolerate the use of ai in works for our fest in any way. we will not be revealing the author or taking any steps beyond removing it from the collection, as we believe we have handled it in accordance with our fest’s guidelines and done what is within the scope of our responsibilities as mods. thank you for your understanding! and we apologize for any confusion or inconvenience.
hi mods! i have a question regarding the off-season, since there's no claiming, two people could end up writing and posting the same prompt. is that a problem?
Hi Slickmods, I’ve run into a problem! (Sorry if there are any incoherences, English isn’t my first language.)
Basically, when I search for a specific prompt code in Notion, the results don’t match what they’re supposed to correspond to.
Let’s say the author writes a slice-of-life based on their claimed prompt, they give the code in their notes, but when you search the code in Notion, something totally different shows up instead, like a Royal AU or something. A whole other plot basically.
That if it shows up at all! Most times they don’t even appear in the search results even though I know the prompt exists, since the authors always include the prompt code in their notes.
Also another issue, when I open a claimed prompt in Notion, one that has an already published fic, the fanfic isn’t linked in the work section like it should be.
Please help! Thank you! 😞🫶
hi! first, about the prompt codes, unfortunately the mods weren’t able to figure out what the problem is because none of us were having the same issue from our end when viewing the masterlist logged out. please make sure you are viewing the right database (there is an “unclaimed” and “claimed” version), and also we’d recommend trying to search by just the number (e.g “000” instead of “A000”) instead of the full prompt code. if the search function is giving you trouble you can also use the filter option, so filter for prompt code, change it to “prompt code is” and type the prompt code in there. it should work! if you (or anyone else) are still running into issues with the ML please let us know!
second, fics are not linked in the prompt masterlists! if you want to find written prompts + the link to their corresponding fic, it’s formatted that way on our weekly reading lists. you might also have better luck searching the prompts there but we don’t post them until the end of the week.
i hope this helped a bit!! since we didn’t have the same problem i’m assuming it might just be notion acting a bit buggy unfortunately :c but please try again and let me know if the problem persists! thank you for your question!!
hi, i'd like to ask if we can already claim prompts for the off-season part? what i got from a tweet of yours was that everything regarding off-season would be decided once reveals are over, but i saw some claims popping up in the masterlist that weren't there before(?) so i was wondering if i misunderstood😭
hi! there’s no claiming process for off-season! you can write any of the prompts that are available (but so can anyone else) and then you just post it to the unmoderated off-season collection when it opens :)
the reason we suggest waiting until after reveals are over is because we have prompts on extensions that may get dropped (and therefore become available for off-season). and also because some prompters may reach out to let us know they dont want their prompt on the off-season list, and therefore you wouldn’t be able to write them. but yeah if you see a prompt you like in the claimed section now, you can definitely start thinking about what you’ll write if you want to and then just double check after reveals! :)
Hi, I was wondering where we could access slickfest reveals from round 1?
hi, you can access the round 1 collection here: https://archiveofourown.org/collections/slickfests
hi slickmods! i know this was asked before but i can’t find it now, are authors able to request the stats from the guessing game once it’s all done? like if anyone guessed right, which other authors they guessed for the fic we wrote, any comments/feedback etc etc. i just think it woild be fun to know :)
i hope this does not come off as negative but a lot of the authors are friends with other authors/mods and know which fics are theirs, doesnt that make the author guessing game a little unfair to those who are not? or is it another situation based on integrity and trust to not cheat/participate in the game? no offense intended xx
hello! it would be unfair, but yes, we do just have to trust that people wouldn’t participate in guessing or they wouldn’t include the ones that they were told about and therefore didn’t actually ‘guess’ :( unfortunately there’s no way for us to know what’s happening in people’s private conversations and it would be pretty much impossible to moderate that. regardless, the guess form is just for fun and there’s no actual prize, so it isn’t the end of the world if that happens, but we still hope that people are being honest and fair 🙂↕️
RE Author reveals... maybe, since we already know which authors are in what week for the weeks that are already concluded, wouldn't it make a lot of sense to reveal the authors week by week? So reveal week one's authors, wait a week, then the authors for week 2 etc? That way, every fic is anonymous for the same length of time :D I don't know if that's possible on AO3 though
that totally makes sense and is doable but it makes the process a bit messier on our end which is why usually author reveals were all at once last time!! i was toying with the idea of maybe doing weeks 1&2 on dec 5th and weeks 3&4 on the 12th though, also that way we’re not dragging round 2 out for too much longer than we wanted to
