im worried about finishing do you have any words of wisdom or motivation?
hi slickfester!! we totally understand everything can get stressful at this stage! if you’re looking for motivation we have a discord server with lots of other slickfesters to chat and/or sprint with. we also have slicktober going on until the deadline, which can def help some people with motivation if you wanted to give it a try! if you don’t already have a beta reader, you can request one to brainstorm with or if you’d just like to have someone in the doc with you! good luck, and do your best!

i feel so overwhelmed with my fic and don't think i can finish it in time without it affecting my health, but i am also afraid that if i get an extension my fic will flop and no one will read it cuz there will already be too many cool new and better fics out by then 😭 i don't know what to do
hello my dear!! we’re so sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed! please put your health first <3 if it’s best for you, you can always save your work to post during off-season as well!!
while we can’t guarantee all fics will get the same amount of attention, we’re confident that there are readers who will enjoy what you’ve written!!
we hope you can finish something that you had fun writing and are proud of!! try not to focus too much on statistics or how your fic compares to others!! fighting!!!

Do beta readers also need to be anonymous prior to reveals? I want to make sure to credit them properly without disrupting the spirit of Slickfest
hiiiii! this is up to the discretion of the writer!! you may fully tag and credit your beta if you’d like, but if they’re someone you worry might make it obvious who you are, we’ve had people thank their beta non-specifically for fic reveals before naming their beta when their work is made un-anonymous !! ^^

hi there!! we are not accepting prompts for a potential next round of slickfest just yet, but whenever we get started for that round there will be plenty of time to prompt! please store your idea away to send in to us then!! or, you could see if your prompt could work for any other fests that have open prompting right now! in the meantime, make sure to check out all the art and fics that get put out during reveals! someone may have worked on something similar enough to help scratch your itch !! ^^ 💗

Hello! I wanted to ask for a clarification on the exact meaning of Dead Dove because I'm not sure if I should tag my fic like that. I keep seeing different interpretations for it so I don't want to risk including or not including it. Thanks!
hihi! “Dead Dove: Do Not Eat” is there to tell readers that the tags they’ve just seen or are about to see are 100% there in the fic. if they open the fic, they will read about the tags you’ve listed. it’s usually paired with potentially triggering topics, but, on its own, it cannot replace proper tagging so it’s much more important that you tag your fic correctly and honestly according to the content that’s in your story!

Hello mods! I was wondering if you would like us to inform you in case the final word count of our fic is different than what we initially thought... I don't remember if we had to mention somewhere our approximate word count during submissions and maybe you'd like to know for your planning. Hello lovely mods! Thank you so much for putting all of this together for us. I have a question I haven't seen an answer to just yet, so I apologize if it's been asked before. Can we use our own beta readers, or search for our own, or do we have to request one through the fest?
