i agree with this one silly bug anon !! it is so precious that soobin and beomgyu are best friends and that their bond is so strong and visible even outside of any shipping context.

but as a soogyuist, sometimes when people emphasize the best friend label in response to content that’s clearly romantic-coded, it feels less like they’re trying to shut down any romantic reading on purpose even when the content itself kind of invites it. it’s not about being mad that they’re called best friends, it’s about why some people choose to emphasize that at very specific moments.

it’s kinda like… if i said, “oh i think the circle fits perfectly into this heart-shaped puzzle because of how soft and round the edges are,” and someone goes, “well actually, the circle is just a circle. it’s friends with the heart.” like yes, okay! but that doesn’t cancel out the fact that the circle and the heart clearly have a unique shape dynamic going on that could fit together in more than one way.

at the end of the day though, i think it’s not that serious and soogyuists aren’t actually that mad at all. it’s just a running joke that if you show someone a picture of soogyu being all lovey-dovey, someone will always find their way to say that they are such Cute Platonic Friends. trust me if anything, soogyuists are the first people who appreciate the beauty of soogyu’s friendships 🍀 thank you for being so kind though <3
