Sorry to bother you with a non-cotl question here as I'm rather shy, but why not lower the stove heat once the rice starts boiling and see if it turns out better?

I do! I heat the water to a rolling boil, then add the rice, and then put the heat on low and simmer for 20 min. I am not sure why I am so incompetent at this.
