my first thought was that maybe they’re part of a larger team and the current captain (who chn is being trained to replace) is pretty strict about how they conduct themselves during competition season and the 7 got caught partying/drinking and they’re forced to sit out as punishment. or maybe maybeeee all 8 of them got caught breaking the rules but the team doesn’t have a spare flyer to swap flx with, but captain thinks it’s just as well bc they know separating the dream team will be agonizing enough for all of them lol

but then i also started thinking about an au with bring it on vibes where like…. maybe their team is clashing with another team at cheer camp and one night they end up in a 1-on-1 guerrilla cheer comp where the winning team gets to poach one member of the losing team, and somehow (they cheated) the rival team (totally cheated) beat 5kz (by cheating) and take flx (bc they cheated) and the others have to find a way to win! him! back! — 🍑
