I saw a tweet about namjoon’s love song selections for arirang and decided to check the other ones out as well and made the incredible discovery that taehyung put nuevayol by bad bunny, what makes you beautiful by one direction aaand creep by Radiohead back to back on the same playlist, I am stunned, mesmerized by how his Ming works (it’s also how most of my playlists look lmao)
| Love song playlist anon back again to inform that namjoon also has a high school musical soundtrack song on his playlist with frank ocean and Jeff Buckley… I am now doubting they actually made these playlists bc I love high school musical but I don’t think namjoon would know we’re all in this together the way I do (if he does, it would make me love him even more don’t get me wrong, high school musical is a classic)

Do you have a pet peeve thing in fics? I was reading a fic and it’s overall really good but there’s this one thing in there that I’ve seen in other fics too that I find genuinely kind of odd to the point it takes me out and that thing is the random old ajumma character that for some reason has a very intense maternal reaction/connection to the characters. Like they’ll go to a restaurant once and the ahuma will be like “my son” and throughout the story, the protagonist will go this ominous ajumma for advice??? Like??? Why does this old ajumma suddenly speak as if she was Aslan from narnia??? To fic writers I am begging stop with the sudden connection ajummas 😭 if you develop the reason why there’s a connection to make it make sense, I’ll take it but y’all (not you Alice) can’t be letting any old person become your number one mentor on sight just bc they’re old please I’m begging
i don’t like to talk about fic pet peeves publicly because i think it could be unkind 🩷
to answer your question generally: really the things that make personally DNF a fic (which i think may be a nicer way of putting it) is when the characterization is really off to me, or if the formatting — spacing, etc — makes it genuinely hard to read. my one grammar peeve that is not unique to fic, though it is more prevalent, is epithets (“the younger”, etc).

Hey Alice, I’m finally taking some time off of work and am desperate to find quality jeongcheol fics with maximal patheticness and emotional constipation and yearning… do you have any recommendations? I have probably read all the jeongcheol fics from you (incredible jeonghan characterization btw), wonwo_o, halotolerant, pinkish, jogak , mrehk, checkyeshoshi as some of my fav authors… soooo if you have any in mind that you consider to be underrated, lesser known or maybe an old gem please share, I will be eternally grateful 🙏🏼 (I will also take alternative ships if they include jeongcheolesque self inflicted angst and slow burn)

Alice monarch I need to know how labneh is eaten in arab cuisine bc in turkey they straight up commercialized it as an alternative to cream cheese. There are literally tons of alternative cheesecake and tiramisu recipes where you use labneh instead of cream cheese or mascarpone and I feel like that’s deeply disrespectful even tho I have eaten and enjoyed those tiramisus (doesn’t work as well for the cheesecake)
that’s so interesting!!!! well i’m syrian (arab american) and when i was growing up we mostly ate it for breakfast but i never thought of it as a cream cheese alternative. we also love savory yogurt sauce (NOT greek tzatziki, the worst sauce ever made) like kibbeh in a garlicky labneh sauce is rlly good
