I’m the weird recipe anon back with another one (its not weird tho) you know how everyone keeps making dates filled with peanut butter ? Tahini works soooo much better, whenever I get a ginormous jar, at the end, there’s only like a very thick paste left so I can’t use it for sauce anymore. BUT I can use it to fill dates and it tastes amazing !!! I need everyone to leave pistachios behind and get into tahini !!!!

Heyyy since Joshua said one of his fav sitcoms growing up was friends… who do you think would be who from svt ? Jeongcheol is non negotiable so the one condition is to cast them as a couple even if it’s out of character.
For me, personally, I feel like jeonghan would be a perfect phoebe so cheol would be Paul Rudd. Joshua can be Monica and Mingyu can be Chandler. Vernon is Ross (im so sorry Vernon) and seungkwan can be Rachel. Idk who Joey is, maybe Dino ???? Also wouldn’t it be fun to have namjoon as tom selleck, I feel like it would work.

Alice I had a dream where I was just hanging out with minghao and then we met up with dua lipa and callum turner and ended up having a sleepover - I am pretty sure that regardless of my love for these people as artists, we have pretty much nothing to talk about so I was very surprised that dream-me had actual conversations in what I remember to be simlish😭😭😭 anyway wanted to share and feel free to share if you ever had a svt dream🍻
not the simlish 😭😭😭 i love hearing about peoples dreams! i don’t remember mine most of the time but famously my wife has recurring dreams about feeding mingyu and she sleep talks, so sometimes im awake when it happens and i can ask her what she and mingyu are up to and she’ll answer me while still asleep (and never remembers in the morning)

Alice I think I discovered something (or maybe not, maybe it’s already a thing idk) but I saw a recipe for tinto di verano (which is apparently cheap red wine mixed with lemon soda) I only had Coke Zero at home and so I mixed that with red wine (with a 2 to 1 ratio, 2 being the coke and 1 being the wine) and it actually tastes like iced mulled wine??? I actually will drink it and not pour it down the sink

have you ever tried vietnamese coffee? I don't do coffee usually but vietnamese coffee with condensed milk or vietnamese coconut coffee takes me to another plane of existence!!!
anon i need you to know that choosing vietnamese coffee as your One Coffee as a non-coffee drinker is diabolical
(yes i love vietnamese coffee!! my wife actually bought me a phin for christmas so i’ve been making it myself at home. i know people say it’s really strong but as an arab i grew up drinking turkish coffee so it’s the perfect strength to me idk)

Hi again satc anon here to defend my Joshua is Samantha casting bc I have some argumentssss:
1. I did think of Joshua as charlotte too tbh but I feel like its a very superficial reading of Joshua. Not that I know him ofc but I have always gotten the vibe that there’s a very polished version of himself that he shows especially in Korean content (I assume bc the audience is more conservative?)
2. Which brings me to my next argument: sometimes this character cracks and we see glimpses of the freak inside (some will think of him asking to be choked but I also think the difference between him and Vernon on the thirst tweets videos is also interesting. Joshua translated things directly whereas Vernon tried to soften things a bit. That’s giving Samantha right there)
3. And here I must acknowledge that ofc all idols put on a polished image and they usually are less polished in English content buttt I feel like with Joshua there may be a Jekyll and Hyde levels of difference between the American stoner freak inside and the polished K-pop idol image
4. This is more about why charlotte wouldn’t work as Joshua: charlotte was OBSESSED with having the perfect man, the perfect marriage, her image etc. to a psychotic degree. She never let go ever. If she ever cracked it was bc she was having a meltdown, she didnt have a freak in her. On the other hand, Samantha is a freak and very straight up and horny, but she’s also very big on appearances, she’s literally a pr person/events organizer for a living. (This is also giving a bit of Mingyu now that I’m thinking)
5. Anyway, the point is, I believe in my heart that Joshua hong is a horny freak stoner who in a very paradoxical way cares a lotttt about appearances/image but also will do the most insane shit just bc. Charlotte would die.
oh anon i completely agree with you! really what you’d said it just a more succinct version of my “charlotte in the streets samantha in the sheets” wherein “streets” is “his kpop gentleman persona”! trust me, i am a big supporter of slutty joshua agendas

Hiiii I just watched a video analysis on why mr.big suuuuucked and decided to get an hbo max subscription just to rewatch sex and the city. I am now thinking about who from svt would be who on the show. Like sc has big Aidan energy but Carrie really fucked him over. Idk who Carrie would be btw. But I think Joshua is Samantha and seungkwan is charlotte. Woozi is Miranda. I am sure about these. I have the urge to cast jeonghan as Carrie just bc, but I know that he’s actually an evil mix of Samantha, charlotte and Miranda all at once. Maybe jeonghan is Mr big actually (this is not a hate message, I love jeonghan its just that he’s extremely emotionally constipated in my head)
So maybe seungcheol is Carrie and Aidan is Mingyu. I feel like this message has been a true example of my flow of consciousness, sorry to have exposed you to this mess🤡 but yeah jc forever
okay i’m reading this in the light of day and HOWLING at joshua as samantha. it’s just that i think joshua is a charlotte in the streets and samantha in the sheets.
i have not watched this show since the mid-2000s anon so i really can’t speak to the characterization beyond my shallow memory of it. I don’t really remember WHY we hate Big, just that he generally sucks? But from what i recall, i support a toxic romance reading of jeongcheol as big/carrie even if I’m not sure Carrie and Seungcheol map onto each other that well.

hey alice, do you have any experience of prying yourself out of writer's block? not so much the kind where you can't figure out what to write next; more the block where you know exactly what you want to write but for some reason cannot actually make yourself do the writing part. if so, any tips?
three more or less foolproof methods for this, in my experience:
1) try engaging with similar narratives (caveat: if you can do this without unintentionally plagiarizing them) Not just other fic/writing but movies, tv, songs, etc
2) talk it out with someone. find someone you can just take through your idea and get feedback/inspo from. this has saved my fic from the WIP graveyard more times than i can count
3) put it down. write something else completely different and come back to it. don’t be afraid to work on multiple things at once. often, working on one project will inspire the other

Hi Alice I saw your post about homemade butter and now I’m desperate to have some, how did you do it ? I remember seeing a video about really shaking up heavy cream until it thickens into butter but idk if that’s the right approach - how do you do it ? Please share 🥹🙏🏼
you can do that! I did it with a stand mixer which is much easier but does require one to own a stand mixer. You can also do it with a bowl and a hand mixer.
but basically the recipe for butter is: heavy cream + shaking. after some time, it will separate into butter and buttermilk. you just need to rinse the butter in ice water until the water runs clear, and sort of knead the butter until it feels butter-y. there are tons of recipes out there! then once it’s made you can flavor it 🙂↔️
