Toji who doesnt remember a majority of his childhood w/ the Zenins, he remembers the pain but disassociated so much every memory is blurry. He copes bh forgeting the worst parts of it all and maybe thats why he forgot Megumi's name, not because he loved him any less just that remembering hurts
tbh ive always thought that he “forgot” bc it was easier to forget than think about it. ‘forgetting’ does tend to be a trauma response bc in a lot of cases it’s not as painful if u just. pretend it didn’t happen or ignore that it happened at all. i have a lot of thoughts on toji and megumi’s relationship and could go on about what toji should have done and what he didn’t do and what he could have done, but ultimately i think when ur so overcome with the grief of losing someone, it’s very easy to tell urself that you’ve forgotten about the child you literally brought into the world w them. i think a lot of toji ‘forgetting’ things comes down to it simply being easier for him to forget than remember bc it was too painful. terrible father or not he loved that boy lmao and no one will ever convince me otherwise
