What is the one thing your character wants more than anything, and why do they want it so badly?
Saint is a complicated character, but at his core, his greatest desire is to be saved from himself. He wants to be truly loved for who he is, while also believing that someone else might be able to “fix” him. That’s why so much of his character revolves around relationships. He seeks intimacy not only because he wants to be loved or desired, but because he wants to feel rescued.
His central theme is the erotism of salvation, the desire to be wanted so deeply that love, intimacy, and desire begin to feel like a form of redemption. For Saint, being desired by someone can feel like proof that he is worth saving, even when he knows deep down that no one else can truly save him from himself.
