this prompt made me think of genshin immediately lol. who in skz... I am loathe to make anyone in skz a tone deaf bard, so for the sake of this world, I'm going the little mermaid route. Let's say jngn is a mischievous bard who bites off a little more than he can chew from a barkeep who curses him by "stealing his voice." That is, he steals his singing voice he uses to tell his stories while playing his harp (venti style). He doesn't even realize he's cursed at first because he can't hear how broken his voice has become. It's only when he's booed by his usual loving crowds and turned away be previously adoring patrons does he realize what's happened. He goes to a local apothecary for a quick fix and realizes he'll have to hunt down the barkeep to undo the curse. Unfortunately, the barkeep has mysteriously left town...

So, Jngn, who scarcely uses his voice anymore out of embarrassment and shame, starts to gather up a team to join him on his quest. He is still able to earn a meager living by playing his harp but it's nothing like before so he's limited in his funds which is how he ends up with...

Flx. lol. Sorry to mention genshin again, but Flx would be like bennett... unlucky little blond with big aspirations and a heart of gold (and actually so good maybe goated even). Anyways, Flx would be delighted to join Jngn's mission and refuses to accept payment (which is good bc Jngn didn't have a lot ot mention). He's just thrilled that someone finally chose him to go adventuring with. Jngn doesn't tell him that he didn't have many options or that most of the locals warned him away from Flx because of his clumsiness. Early into their mission, they probably run into some bandits and get beaten up pretty badly and Flx is really apologetic about it even though he took the brunt of the beating and even had his sword stolen. Jngn is immediately endeared by him even though he knows they're probably doomed. But he's somewhat surprised when Flx reveals he also has healing abilities and fully heals all of their wounds in just one night.

Anyway, it becomes apparent that they're going to need some actual manpower on this adventure and furthermore, they're now completely broke. Once they make it to the next town they meet...

Jsvng! Ok, walk with me. They need man power and they need money. How about Jsvng, the ditzy necromancer from a long lineage of powerful mages that live in town... very wealthy family. Jsvng is often overshadowed by his older brother and wants to prove himself. Jeonglx's proposal is the perfect opportunity! He joins their team and offers to contribute funds to the cause if Jngn promises to sing at his family's famous end of year party once he gets his voice back (turns out his mother is a huge fan of bards...). The thing about Jsvng is that although Jsvng has the potential to be a powerful mage, he doesn't really have a stomach for dead bodies so it makes the whole necromancer thing kind of difficult. he's also another adventurer with a heart of gold and a mind of prey. snow white style, forest animals flock to him and love him to pieces so by fate most of his necromanced party he's able to summon at will are forest animals. Imagine Jsvng in battle and he's getting ready to fight and he summons like... ten baby deer and a hoard of little ducklings. Except they're resurrected little creatures so they have bodies of steel and idk,,, are vicious fighters. maybe they have some sort of magical protective armor too. the imagery is so charming.

So that's our party. They're a special group of adventurers but they'll make it!! i imagine their travels in pursuit of Jngn's voice would take them on all sorts of adventures... siren's lagoon (hynjn), underground mage fighting ring where they have to help a rogue fighter escape (mnh & chngbn), . Mnh and chngbn would join their party on sight of jsvng and hynjn. Flx would sulk about no longer being "the team's best dps" but he'd get over it after feeling up chngbn's lessons and mnh offering to teach him new hand-to-hand combat techniques. It's only when they meet sngmn (hellhound) and chn (werewolf) are they able to track down the scent of the barkeep and get closer to achieving their goal.

Yeah, I could go on. I said these were drabble prompts but no drabble in sight just lots of messy thoughts. they'd get back Jngn's voice eventually,,, whole crew together,, they decide to stay together and continue to take on adventure commissions. some of them fall in love... all of them love each other... one big adventure family... sigh

This is a great question. I definitely tend to use terms interchangeably so I am using this as an opportunity to investigate these terms for myself too. :) These definitions are my understanding of the terms although others may use them differently.

Flashfic/ficlet: Flashfic comes from "flash fiction" which is a short story of a few hundred words although typically under 1k. Even though it is short in length, it is usually a completed narrative. It looks like ficlet is also used in this capacity from what I can see online (and also from personal experience).

Snippet: Any excerpt from a completed or ongoing work, whether an entire page, just a few paragraphs, or even just a line of dialogue.

Drabble: According to a brief internet search, a drabble is a work of exactly 100 words. I definitely did not actually know that haaha and instead have used it to refer to any brainworms/more open-ended musings or thoughts on a particular concept or idea. This is very good to know.

If you're looking to post stories in thread form on twt, you could consider labeling them simply as 'thread fics,' although like you mentioned, you can also abstain from labels entirely and let people engage with your work as is :) I guess the difference in how I view the terms with relation to my own work is usually the "completeness" of the idea. That is, whether I'm discussing the concept of a story and how I might write it vs. actually writing it out or sharing a snippet from an ongoing draft, etc.

I'm definitely not the authority on fanfic terminology, but I hope that is helpful! Maybe others can chime in too if they see this. Thanks for your question and happy writing! <3

First of all thanks for reading, I’m glad you’re enjoying the fic, although sorry about the pain of the yearn.

This is a super fun question. I love omegaverse because of flexibility for play and worldbuilding. There are some set tropes like knotting and slicking but I find that it’s pretty easy to subvert tropes and make it your own without too much of a learning curve for your reader.

For me in particular, I loveee when the animal instincts of omegaverse are drawn out. I think it can raise stakes and add a lot of drama and angst and yearning. I didn’t originate the concept of chirping omegas by any means. I’ve seen it in other skz fic and a lot in BTS fic as well! There is one BTS ot7 fic in particular where the author really drove up the codependency of the omegas within a pack dynamic which I thought was really interesting and tasty so if I had to point to a specific piece of inspiration I’d say that fic!

Independent of omegaverse dynamics, my brain is wired to think “how can I stick Felix in the middle of this” regardless of the pairing 😭. My bias even in fic.

i haven't been actively working on anything new at the moment since i've been busy with life things. my wips miss me most ardently. in general i'm hoping to finish up some of my ongoing fics before the end of the summer, so omega chirpies and poor jsvng who can't come.

buttt for funsies, i thought i'd share about a random thought spiral i had that led to a mnsvng vampire wip/brainworm that i probably won't get around to writing even though i think the idea is fun :,)

i attended a few weddings this summer and was introduced to the "dinner party rule" which is essentially a tool for a wedding party to use for the invite list. It goes something like... if you haven't shared a meal with them in x amount of time or you wouldn't invite them to a dinner party, don't invite them to your wedding. i can't remember the exact rule but you get the picture.

so then i thought ok who would have this... sngmn. so i thought of sngmn getting married and using the dinner party rule. so then i thought ok so sngmn and flx are getting married bc i'm in my Happy House era rn and also because i am who i am sngmn is an ancient vampire and flx is his sickly human bride who he is marrying before he turns him into a vampire to save his life.

because sngmn is an ancient vampire... you can imagine how long his list of contacts is. anyways, so sngmn has his dinner party rule and his System but has an Agenda. See, Sngmn hasn't spoken to his sire in over three decades and Flx wants Sngmn to reconcile with Mnh more than anything.

ENTER JSVNG. Flx's best friend. Flx goes to Jsvng and asks him to help seduce Mnh, one of the city's oldest and most intimidating, etc vampires for the express purpose of bringing him as his plus one to Flx and Sngmn's big gay vampire wedding.

That is probably my most recent wip i was playing around with in my head but i probably won't write it any time soon or at all because i imagine it having some hefty length... the vampire courting process,, the mnsvng push & pull,,,, tracking down other ancient vampire guests (ahem, jeongn, hynjn, etc etc),,, flx's failing health... lots of room for drama and play... maybe a future posty will get to explore...

annyyyways, thank you for asking about my wips,,, i love playing around in my dollhouse. and lo and behold, lads is generating more wips as we speak lol. <3

I truly think about childhood friends chnlx on a daily basis. Typically I am thinking about them in the most melancholic way possible and I believe this is no different.

Like, imagine they DID meet at a music school competition and immediately hit it off,,, Chn thinks Flx's beatboxing is impressive and that he has great potential. And Flx thinks Chn is the Perfect Creature. They're still young enough that Flx has the schoolboy mentality of "I like that boy because he is the fastest boy in my class. Did you see him swim laps? Jump hurdles? Run the 1k? He is the only man ever." Plus Chrs sings and writes music too,,, calloused fingers from strumming a guitar with a dozen stickers from local bands on it. Flx is enamored to say the least.

I'd like to think Chn writes his email down for Flx at the end of the comp but Flx is so starstruck he just has Chn scrawl it with a Sharpie on the back of his hand and doesn't realize he's smeared it until he sees the blob of ink while he's showering. He has a good cry about it but then is determined to work hard on his Craft so that he'll impress Chn when he sees him next year at the music competition... except Chn doesn't come back the next year or the year after that. Enough time passes that Flx stops thinking about him and stops attending the music comp after the next year, too busy attending dance classes... getting scouted by strangers on FB to move countries in the name of idoldom.

If we're in canon comp... just imagine they do meet again as trainees. Flx bumbling right up to him all bright and sunshine despite the moody rumors about JYP's toughest trainee. And then of course, he immediately recognizes Chn as his childhood idol, his crush of his youthful musical summers. He immediately tries to explain about losing his email and how hard he's worked but Chn pretends not to remember him ;--; He's so jaded from being the only surviving trainee cycle after cycle that he doesn't want to think far back to Australia when he was a hopeful kid, admiring the freckled boy showering him with spit and smiles as he demonstrated his beatboxing skills.

Flx doesn't take it personally... at first. Chn was such a star back then... why would he ever remember someone younger like Flx??? Except he catches Chn in some sort of a lie,,, Chn referring back to something even Flx himself had forgotten about their shared summers. He's flattered at first but then hurt that Chn has pretended to forget. He confronts him about it but Chn denies it again, giving him the cold shoulder. Flx who has already been giving everything to be there takes it hard but stops going to Chn like before...

Eventually they all make it,,, even surviving the eliminations that almost broke Flx... they make it together debuting into a successful group but things aren't the same. Flx is more distant with him than he is the other members, doesn't cuddle him or go to him for advice. Chn tends to hear about Flx's struggles secondhand from the managers or other members and every time he thinks about reaching out, he holds himself back... filled,,, with regret
