: media literacy is dead with how games and shows can no longer be enjoyed or discussed without everyone jumping down your throat about being bad for enjoying strange things
Any sort of nuance is dead in general. No longer can you have a perspective that isnt black and white. things are just "Good" or "bad" in peoples eyes... its like that with a lot of discourse, no room for nuance, its just THIS PERSON IS BAD. THIS PERSON IS THE DEVIL. THIS PERSON IS PURE AND RESPECTABLE. almost as if these people arent treated as human beings just like us 💭 say something else besides this, and you get your face eaten off
I am sorta public about liking TCOAAL but Not Really because people would jump me for liking that in the slightest.
I personally think the representation of incest is Well Written, and yes the old(?) creator was weird I won’t deny that. But the writing is still good and I heavily relate to how it’s written/shown in game (not Fully as I don’t have siblings, but I went through something similar). I also relate heavily to Julia as I went through the same/similar harassment that she did. Everyone just labels it as “incest slop” and calls it a day, basically.
i feel like some people started caring too much about deeming stuff as either good or wrong to prove one's morality, which isn't entirely bad cause you stay more mindful of what's harmful etc. but it gets to a point no room is left for stuff that slightly strays away from considered normal to have complex gray reasonings behind it, cause they're already set on that black and white judgment
DUDE GENUINELY I'm sorry for liking Steve Harrington. -Charlotte
absolutely, you can say the same for liking characters that are dumbed down to "horrible" when they're much more complex!:/ bring back character studies and analyzing their motivations instead of making that the basis of who they are
