this is actually a really cute message anon im glad you cared enough to notice... unfortunately i don't really consider myself a real "fic writer" or part of any community anymore bc i go from fandom to fandom so quickly i don't want to really get attached anywhere since i'll probably up and leave soon, but more essentially the idea you're implying here that more community engagement=more fic engagement is one of my biggest fears/dislikes in fandom, i don't want to brag but if you sort by kudos on my account you'll see that i had a couple years where i had an insane(compared to me now) amount of engagement on a consistent basis and it was bc i was interacting with as many people in the community as i could, subtly trying to seek attention and friendship constantly and writing whatever i thought other people would like, and tbh it was the emptiest i've ever felt while writing and i'm still not proud of almost anything i did no matter how high the numbers are... even if i jokingly complain sometimes the past year or so has been by far the most fulfilling and happy i've ever been while writing and i would take my best works only getting a few kudos but knowing that i'm proud of them and having a couple of great friends/moots that i genuinely love over having an endless amount of undeserved praise and hundreds of followers that i don't connect with on a deeper than fandom level anyday!
