Yeah the big problem w the omegaverse idols jicheol is that it's extremely hard to get them to talk about it without a contrived situation where information gets forced out of them. They will always prioritize SVT and SVT is forever so they will never broach it without a cycle related incident. not unless the tension actually starts to make their relationship irreparable bc they start getting mad at each other over unrelated things. Or it comes up off of something from sideways, maybe green room reminiscing or "hoonie writes such beautiful longing songs where do you get inspo from" or like "how does hyung keep breaking up w alphas who're too rough bc they assume you can take it please find a stable relationship"
Possible avenue: I'm on the fence whether Seungcheol's heat issues are forever. I think if we wanted to reflect irl where he manages to get to a much less unstable place+members aren't strictly living together anymore, his body might empty nest+start thinking it's safe to get pregnant so he has more intense and more frequent horny heats. Maybe it's a thing during like a tour where he goes into one unprepared without the usual toys/people he'd use to burn through it, and he rejects anyone from entering the nest to give him the suppressants except for Jihoon. Bit dramatic, and idk if it even works with how I think SC's deal is w the group, but it's a plot conversation starter🤔 dunno if they'd have impulse sex or if one/both feel too guilty giving into instincts before they can have the convo

I feel like I've neglected Jihoon's internality... I think Jihoon presented as an alpha kinda late. I feel like in the in-universe fandom's eyes he was a beta or omega(he had the innocent image early on); he kinda figured beta, so being an alpha caught him off balance. Weirdly... my vibe is he might resent it? It probably depends on how betas relate to alphas/omegas in the world dynamic but I think while at the same time that he sees a lot of the theoretical romance of instinct Jihoon is a #reallover. he might see the involuntaryness of it all as muddling his feelings, which seemed much purer and agentic when he thought he was a beta(reflects in his songwriting too). It's probably also informed by the idol industry selling subgenders arbitrarily and seeing members navigating presenting around each other. The paradox is that he cares abt what Seungcheol's instincts say about him. Core jicheol dynamic in an idol world is that they were extremely intimate predebut and then Something Shifted, and I think Jihoon wouldn't be able to ignore that their subgenders might've contributed to this. Esp given that those subgenders complicate their jobs as leader and producer.
Also... idk if I'd WANT to go there, but sometimes members pre2020 would talk abt Cheol like they were worried he'd blindly jump off a bridge for the group if it came to that as part of his leader pressure. Cheol would talk abt feeling like he failed if serious conflict happened and he'd be scolded if issues came up. ...I feel like if we wanted to be fucked up about it, depending on how internal groul cycle handling is worldbuilt in this universe, Jihoon might be like. worried that Seungcheol's ability to enthusiasticly consent to members esp if it's a cycle thing is compromised, and he'd hate that being an alpha creates such a dynamic that could even matter between them.

i think that as cheol gets older and the group becomes more mature, his irregular heats and behaviors would get better, and yeah..... there definitely needs to be a big Something to get jicheol to confront this Giant Elephant, and tbh if they're already still avoidant abt talking then maybe impulse sex might be the Thing..... that being said, it could Also make things worse? they are so Difficult here omg. but it'll definitely need to be said Directly and Explicitly that yeah, there is something here, but would they actually let themselves fall into it??? it still feels unlikely.
i rly like this take on jihoon, its very fitting of him!!! and considering their actual lore/history, their respective designations and the expected societal dynamics between said designation, then any feelings they held for each other...... Yeah........ there's just so much to unpack really. would things be easier and cleaner cut if jihoon had been an beta instead of an alpha?? would cheol be more willing to talk to him, or chase those desire of his???? would cheol still desire him as a mate in the same way ??? would jihoon have taken his chance, eventually? bc really, in omegaverse, there's always that layer too of like.... how in control are you really of their relationship and dynamics with other people??? animal instinct vs human rationality.
in my omegaverse, i've always written the alpha/omega as smth functioning like a subconscious of sorts, smth that rly conveys their base wants and instincts and desires, and they can either give in to it or you know Be Rational. idk its kinda hard to write!!! but it also depends on like, how messy you wanna be. omegaverse in general is always in the center of discourse re: gender roles, heteronormativity, consent, etc. i think in the past i've always been more wary to rly dive into or lean towards smth that feels safer and "less problematic" but ehhh yk the fun of writing is exploring all of this messiness.
