hello!! im curious on how long it took you to learn korean from a basic level to a decently fluent level? i've been stuck at understanding korean on a basic level for ages and always end up giving up learning more, especially because listening and speaking is so hard.. so are the grammar rules TT would really love to hear some tips if you have any to share! i really admire translators for the work they do and how much effort they put into studying the language TT
i always say this but the only reason i was able to move past a basic level is by immersing myself deeper into the language! i used to write long paragraphs of letters in korean for past idols (lol) on public platforms so whenever friends who knew korean saw it, they would help point out and correct any mistakes + bc i wanted to express myself more i ended up seeking out online how to use certain phrases or connectors that would appear more natural in korean. for grammar rules i think bc i took a few classes in uni it really helped with the most common ones (like at that point i was already able to converse and read and write, but it helped stabilise my foundation for grammar) and also by speaking to koreans i get more chances to practice and learn how to verbalise more of my thoughts in korean as compared to the simple "hi hello how are you" conversations! i first started doing all this in like 2020? i think and it wasn't really like a "oh i'm gonna start studying it now" kind of thing so i'm not sure technically how long i took but yeah this is usually the long answer i'd give when asked

eh no not at all... i've only ever been myseokryudan since i made an account for matthew... maybe the ig acc got it wrong or misunderstood something?

ah it should be 야무지게! for example 야무기제 먹어 eat heartily, but idk why matthew always leaves out the 게 and say 야무지 LOLLL

nope!! even before bp i used to have accounts for prev idols i liked but i never really updated or translated for them? it was mostly personal accounts for me to act silly with oomfs lol matthew is the first and only idol who i've legitimately lasted a long time running a somewhat proper account for? especially with this sort of following... crazy numbers tbh HAHAH but yeah thank you so much!!!♡

noo I was just asking I rarely go to kside so I didn't see much any fansign repos I thought something happened again there bcs I didn't see any translations either but still thank you for translating everything about matt ❤️
no worries anon i hope you don't think i was mad at you or something i was just tryna explain my thought process when picking what to post about, sometimes i also feel like when i translate those inside jokes and prank stuff they don't get much traction anyways so i just assume no one is interested 🥲

wait which ones? most of the ones i saw are just the fan's personal convos with him/using puns and jokes on him so usually if it isn't very fun or interesting i tend to skip it 🥲 like a lot of them are just him giving them fanservice and i think it's kind of redundant to post a translation of them idk 😭 but if you have any that you think brings something new to the table pls lmk!!

omg i really want to but i dont think alterspring is the right platform to do a deep dive into everything and how else to do it 😭😭😭 i will say while i prefer the extent of services cfan sellers provide + flexibility of choosing what to buy, i always think kfan sellers produce the best end result in terms of audio and video quality most of the time (not 100% tho...)

when u buy 띔 do u usually get from kr or cn sellers
i used to get solely from kr but due to lack of supply over recent eras i started getting from cfans (there very big difference in the way both types of fans do things tho...)

can you tell me if 석류 is pronounced as seog nyu why it's translated to seokryu in english 🤔 I watched kdrama love next door and the female lead name is 배석류 and I realized that I've been pronouncing 석류 wrong all these time
i mean if u want to strictly following pronunciation for ur romanisation it will be like seongyu due to 받침 rules (the ㄱ being followed by ㄹ between the 2 characters changes the pronunciation) but if u are just reading the characters for what they actually are, its 석 seok and 류 ryu so seokryu? i think that looks better in english too + the wordplay of 석 seok from 석매튜 seok matthew would be lost if we romanised it strictly as seongyu to follow the pronunciation

Ik the pic of gia and matt was deleted to prevent potential controversy but do you think it would be okay to make a fanart out of it? It's not like i have a plan to do it but i might later
maybe just copy the pose and not the background and dont provide a reference pic? the main aim is to just not circulate the original picture in case it gets in the hands of the wrong crowd
