will people get an email telling them they didn't get into the zine?
Yes, though the emails may get marked as spam due to the high influx of applicants.
Hii, when will we be contacted about the results?
Results have been coming out in waves! Due to the amount of people who applied, they're coming slower than expected.
Are the two Check-ins just to make sure that there is progress in our contribution, without the mods necessarily providing feedback? Because I put in my application that I might be more likely to be unavailable beyond the first week of June (by the time I applied, I think the latest date for finals was just June 1 and the Final Layout and/or Revisions/Edits Due dates weren't there, though I may have missed them when I first read it?) and I'm worried that this might affect my application :(
Check-ins are for progress and feedback for contributors. Revisions are due June 24th and more on the layout/contributor preference side rather than mod feedback (unless something is urgently wrong, which should be addressed in check-ins)! Contributors are also free to ask for feedback throughout the creation process.
Out of curiosity can you provide how many applications you received after the forms close? So we can temper our expectations about getting accepted by knowing the odds.
We'll be providing statistics on applications after forms close. We had a LOT of applications for this issue so we definitely want to make sure people are aware of that when it comes to decisions!
Hello! I had an error with my application (adding the wrong link). I sent over an e-mail with the corrected link. Should I also send in a corrected application, or is the e-mail sufficient? Thank you, and sorry for the trouble!!
Email is sufficient!
If it's OC that already debuted in game (which i created myself), is it alright? since the zine is focusing on the untold beats, i was thinking of telling the side that i never reveal in the game if they do get accepted..
Sure!
Is it fine that my comic example is 10 pages long? The 10 pages belong to 1 single comic, all in 1 pdf file.
Yes.
Hello! I have a few questions:
I recently switched to a new style and while I have some background examples, I cannot make more before the zine app deadline. Would it be alright to link my old portfolio that's full of background examples in the portfolio section w a note? I have a Halloween comic that contains a moderate amount of fake blood and pretend death, would that be ok to include in my portfolio? (can put a content warning if required)I hope this isn't too much, thank you all for your hard work!!
Yes, feel free to do that!
In the "What type of illustration(s) or comics would you be interested in making for the zine?" question, will artists have to do everything we tick, or do we pick the ones that we are interested in doing, then choose from that pile in the case that the application passes? Sorry if this question is a bit confusing...
You just pick the ones you're interested in doing. That question is largely to estimate page count + contributor splits between illustrators and comic artists and are not set in stone. You can play around with the format and do not need to stick rigidly to the spreads detailed.
Hello! Would these types of pages be counted as a connected landscape or a portrait illustration with text/sketch page? Asking just in case you guys don't want any text in the connected landscape pages, thanks so much! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/zDYWZ6
They would count as connected landscape! Either way, those are flexible options and mostly to judge the amount of illustrators vs comic artists + page counts -- you're free to bend the rules of the formats there!
