Many of my illustrations involve graphics, editted images and effects surrounding the portrait of the character. Would those be accepted as examples, and if so, would I be able to such elements in the pages themselves?
Those would be accepted as examples and can be included within the pages themselves -- we'll be encouraging it with internal layout examples as well!

Hi in reference to the Guidelines and page ideas,
while an oc is not a part of an existing media but they have (for example) Swan Lake symbolism inspired in their design is this allowed? Or if the page idea has elements to classic fairy tales or fables, is that permitted?
Yes, this is permitted as long as it doesn't infringe directly on an existing and enforced IP.

is 5-7 the recommended number of works? is 7 the max we can include in our portfolio? and would it be preferable for the portfolio to be concise & tailored, or should it be a showcase of the range of works we can do?
7 is the maximum for the selected works section. We would prefer the portfolio to be concise and tailored with a best representation of your work. If you would like to showcase an entire range of your ability, feel free to put an additional expanded portfolio in the next question.

Will it be fine to include other art links in the Social Media portion even if they are not actually social media? ex. Art Fight, Sheezy

How will the cover artist be chosen? There's only 1 role for cover artist right?
There is only one role available for cover artist. Anyone who selects “Yes” on the question about cover artist will be automatically considered for the role. If selected, they would be asked to illustrate for the cover specifically and be permitted to contribute normally to the zine contents.

I am a mixed media artist. I do have many finished works yet only 2 max recent illustrations I think. Should I share some of my other work for samples to meet the asked number? (Ex. graphic design…)
We would really appreciate at least 3 illustrations if applying to be an illustrator to get a good perspective of what you would be bringing to the zine. Other selections in your portfolio do not necessarily have to be illustrations, though, so feel free to share other styles if you feel they are relevant to your application.

Is there a specific reason why there are no writers in the current scope of the zine? I personally really enjoy written works in zines and I find it's one of the best ways to get a deeper understanding of an oc story. Would you consider including a small amount of writers in future projects?
For this zine, we wanted to keep the scope smaller to illustrators due to a mix of choices regarding layout design, general aesthetic, and mod experience. We would definitely consider expanding to including writers in future projects, and this zine will have some written aspects to it.

Hello! I'm currently compiling my portfolio for the application and I just wanted to ask if works w/ referenced elements (ie. the background/composition is a redraw of/referenced from an existing irl image/video) are allowed in the portfolio, provided that it's not traced? Thank you!

Question regarding the portofolio applications, I’ve read that it is atleast 16+ content (correct me if im wrong) i have an illustration of my oc that i want to submit on the application form but it has some slight nudity in it, is that acceptable ?
Slight, non-sexual nudity is fine.

I'm not exactly sure if I understand the rules/FAQ so I apologize if I come across as dim in asking this but is/are OC's that were inserted into a different media but then branched outside of it allowed?
Yes, as long as there is no recognizable connection to an existing media. If a majority of the story is original and there aren't any significant borrowed aspects (like specific power systems or designs), it should be fine!
